After being greeted with a semi friendly welcome we ordered drinks and waited for our table. We were quite a large party with children and trying to choose our food off a menu written on a board situated behind another large party we felt abit awkard. As for the menu, choice wasnt a problem, your good old roast to lasagne or even hamburger and chips, sizeing down or adapting to suit children. When the food arrived we found the roasts to be warm not as they should be,hot on hot plates with not a big enough portion yet the lasagne was piping hot and of adequate sizing.
Finding places to accomadate a coelic is difficult but here it wasnt a problem, a full individual menu including yorkshires and gravy with staff that understood.
Left feeling a little disheartened and hungry, hopefully just a blip on an over booked Mothers Day but wouldnt return on such an occasion.

Lost count of how many times I've stayed here but we keep coming back. Very hospitable and friendly, and flexible over restaurant bookings where we were late because of our tough cycling schedule (had to cover at least four pubs in one ride).

The only drawback was that previously 'cool' landlord and Michael Caine look-a-like, Barry, did have a Cliff track in his music collection. This lost me a fiver, I will expect a discount next time.

Thanks to Jane & staff for the meals.

A small party of keen cyclists spent 2 nights here, we were very well looked after, the accommodation is excellent, the food good and Barry's music collection is outstanding, he even has some Cliff, thoroughly recommended.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Good service. Food was typical good old pub grub. Our table had bangers and mash, roast pork, chicken breast and lasagne. The chicken breast was a bit overcooked and hard and dry, but still eatable and the accompanying vegetables and potatoes were nice. Desserts were very traditional too. Lots of crumbles and pies. We all had coffee that was a bit disappointing as you could hear it buzzing out of a machine and it wasnt a fresh coffee machine! there was even a foil wrapped mint. All in all an average pub meal.

This is a typical old fashioned English Pub. No fancy stuff, no pretense just good old fashioned pub grub cooked by a really friendly family group. Welcoming and polite, once they get to know you after a couple of visits they warm up and relax - it's just like being at home. The staff have a great sense of humour and will give and take healthy humour.
We visit here every couple of months to meet with my parents and the atmosphere is just great. It's a Greene King Pub - so the beer is ACE.
The menu is a good mix of homely well cooked and prepared food with a regular addition of some really nice 'Specials'. The portions are a good size and the food is tasty - but do try to leave room for a dessert - it's worth it!

Nothing seems to much for the kitchens.
