“The kettle doesn't sing on a rainy day”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

We were very disappointed to find the kettle sings not singing. It was closed on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at 4.15. I asked one of the staff if it was open and he said it was closed as there were no customers, because it had rained in the morning. The kettle doesn't sing on a rainy day.

“Good food in an attractive location”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

This is a popular place for hill walkers so it's a good idea to book a table, especially if you want one of the tables that looks out over Herefordshire to the Welsh borders.

My companion and I enjoyed our meals and agreed that we would be happy to come here again. We also agreed that a few small changes could improve the experience: use ground pepper rather then sneezing powder; be a little more generous with the salad dressing and add a bit more seasoning to the lasagne and the aubergine parmigiana.

Mind you, the garlic bread was brilliant...

“Always a pleasant visit, especially on a clear day”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

This cafe/restaurant has long been a favorite lunch time location for my wife and I and this weeks visit was yet again a nice day out.
Food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the view on the day was close to the best we had seen. Well worth the drive out

“Appalling Service”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

The Kettle Sings is in a beautiful location with breathtaking views and unfortunately that's where the positives end. This establishment clearly relies upon its aforementioned location and substantial history to attract customers. In reality the service is very poor, an order of a pot of tea and a toasted teacake took 45 minutes to be served. The terrace tables were smeared with food remains and were not cleaned between customers. The staff looked askance when we asked for our table to be wiped clean. In short, if you're looking for a nice cream tea on a sunny afternoon try the Bluebird Tea Room or the Abbey Hotel; both excellent and in the centre of Great Malvern.
