We had the pleasure of going to this state park quite often while in KY! This state park is free with plenty of things to do! They offer boating, horse riding, dining, resort waterfront accommodations, and nature! Great Lake view park with plenty of activities in the summer or winter! They even have cabins you can rent and stay directly in the park! We try and visit at least 3 to 4 times a year! On our first visit ever we met Susan in the restaurant! Susan took excellent care of us and introduced us to those wonderful apple pies! The lunch and dinner menus have something for everyone! On our second visit we met Latoya! Latoya has excellent customer service as well! Latoya took excellent care of us on our second visit to the restaurant! Great service in a wonderful atmosphere Worth the trip to get to nature! No matter what you have in store for your day this state park always gives you a new adventure each and every time!

Be warned that the resort is far off the main road (seems like forever but it's not). The drive back is scenic and you will probably see wildlife. This just prepares you for the relaxing outdoor environment you end up in. The view from most rooms is the lake but when the trees are full they block a lot of it. The view from the onsite restaurant is amazing! Even if you are not seated right at the window you will have an incredible view. I was asked if I had a room preference- not given choices so I said no and was given 2 doubles (or queens?) and it had a lodgy feel. Nice flooring that was not carpet - I feel easier to keep clean. Bathroom could really use some updating but we were comfortable and the room felt clean. The indoor pool is out of order and appears to have been for some time. I fear the state will not reopen it. Remember this - you will be in central time zone - our phones changed over to eastern time and we had to be cautious of that.

The same 10 couples have been house boating for the last 27 years. We love Lake Cumberland. Twenty five of thoseu trips have been with State Dock. This year our boat was in horrible condition. The vinyl on the couch was peeling off. When we asked for a different couch we were told they did not have enough help to move it. We had to ask for sheets to cover it. We were short dishes, chairs and utensils. Someone that had used the boat before us had spilled a very sticky substance by the grill. We did not have curtains in all of the windows. Luckily we had the extra sheets so the couple in the back bedroom had a little privacy. We had to wait in the no wake zone for an hour and twenty minutes before the driver came out to bring us in.
Worst trip ever out of State Dock. We will be going elsewhere next year.

I grew up in the Lake Cumberland area of Nancy, Ky. We put our boats in at “The Point”
boat dock. It’s a beautiful lake, the water is crystal clear and you can see through it to lot of parts in the bottom often spitting fish. It’s great for swimming off the banks. Perfect for skiing and going on and staying On a house boat. The very best memories in my childhood. Awesome wonderful place. I absolutely love it. There’s a lot of historical places to visit along the way too.

Everyone was friendly, helpful. Manager, Bill, was very nice and helped make some issues we had, better. Wish there was an easier was to get your belongings to the dock instead of wheel barrels down a hill.

We stayed in a cabin that was spacious, quiet and had ample opportunities for activities. We even went horseback riding while we were there. The crow jewel is the falls itself, which is a easy walk to reach different vantage points for views. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone was so nice and we had a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed 1 night in April 2018. The weather was cool for April and overcast so not the best for this park where outdoor activity is the main activity. We stayed in the Pumpkin Creek Lodge and were the only lodgers there that night. It was quaint, rustic and clean. There could probably be better signage as it was a bit confusing finding our room and no one around to ask questions. We did attempt to take a quick hike on a trail and found them to be not very well marked. The main lodge has a dining room with a spectacular view of the lake so do not miss that. The food was good but we only had a choice of 2 menu items because it was Easter and there was a huge buffet. We really didn't want that much food. The catfish sandwich was delicious though and service was good. The lodging is pet friendly and I was told there was a small fee for pets. The fee was $30 for 1 small dog so be aware of that. I don't think this is that small of a fee and would probably not have stayed there had I known that in advance.

The hiking trails are nice...unfortunately they are over 3 miles, with no place to begin at certain intervals if you only wish to do a mile or so. We spent the night at the park, the buffet dinner with salad bar was excellent as were to cocktails!

We spent 4 days at the lodge and enjoyed the fall colors. We hiked the park and visited the nearby attractions. Our room was great, with a water view and on the second floor. We saw Deer every morning outside our room, and as we toured the park, we saw several deer feeding very close to the road. The food at the Lodge Restaurant was very good with generous servings. The salad bar was always fresh with a great selection.
