We have not eaten here since Stephanie sold the farm opposite. It used to be good and is now better! During a racing weekend we always eat at the Biddestone Arms ( see reviews) and the White Horse.....but the Horse has sadly declined which is a shame considering its wonderful position.
So we went to The Bell on a busy evening. Everything , yes everything was great from the initial late booking to the prompt bill. Bearing in mind how many meals they served, the food and service were exemplary. It's bigger than I remember ,but there were plenty of young pleasant staff to complement the excellent management team and the service was just superb.
The starters were quick arriving and tasty. Next came three enormous King Cods which almost defeated my colleagues...but not quite. Huge and fresh . Crunchy good veg . Well kept beer, the Doombar was very tasty.
Lovely busy relaxed atmosphere and we shall return in July when there is more racing.
A really good local pub doing everything right!
