“A nice time”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

My sister and I were returning to TN from IN with her 13 year old and my 20 month old, and we thought this would be an interesting stop. It is cute and quaint, but a little expensive for what you get. We did enjoy feeding the birds and petting the kangaroo. I have seen other reviews that mention lights in the cave, but it seemed that part was undergoing some renovations so it was a lantern tour. Due to the toddler I had to abandon the tour quickly and am sad that I missed that, but my sister and niece enjoyed it. It was hot and due to a cranky toddler we did skip the wool shed, and I waited in a cool car while the rest of the party visited the reptiles and took a ride in the horse drawn wagon. The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Over all it was a nice diversion, but not a place that we would visit often or make a special trip to.

Thank you for your review on our park. We are glad that you chose to stop in and had a good time. We are sorry that you missed out on the cave tour though. Our lights are currently being redone, but should be back to normal very soon. Our wagon rides are a new addition, and seem to be quite a hit. We hope that you will choose to visit us again in the future as we are acquiring new animals and will be opening even more exciting exhibits.

“This place has lots to see”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Plan to stay the whole day so you can see and do eveything. They do have a cave you can go through, it's not a long trip, but gives you a great idea of what being in one is like. They have a large variety of animals that you can get up close with, even snakes. They have a couple of presentations that you can get hands on with. The kanagroos were our favorite with their little Joeys. And if you happen to be there at feeding time for the birds, get the keeper to get the Kokoo bird going, you'll laugh your head off. Great staff who really love what they are doing.

“AWESOME”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

The brochures don't do this place justice. Look forward to clean friendly experience where you can pet a lot of great animals (if you go to bird show which is a lot more than birds) and have a very cheap gun shooting lesson. Don't miss this place!

Thank you for your review on our park. Several people are enjoying the shooting range that we offer for an additional cost, as well as the bird show, which has turned into more of an animal meet and greet due to the fact that you get a hands on experience with more that just birds. We are glad that you enjoyed your time and hope that you will visit us in the future as we are acquiring new animals to see and interact with as well as planning on opening up new and exciting exhibits.

“Great day at Kentucky Down Under!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

This was our first time to visit Kentucky Down Under and we had a wonderful time! We got to hold and pet more animals then I would have ever expected. The workers were all extremely helpful and nice. The food was good at the cafe, but it's just a walk up window with outside dining at picnic tables. It was a hot day, so I was very pleased to find I could refill my ice tea for 25 cents! They also provided one free little cup of nectar to each person to feed the Lorakeets and that was fun. Even late in the day they were active and entertaining. We've never been in with Kangaroos before so that was very special to be able to pet one! The terrain is very hilly, but doable. At first I thought they ought to have golf carts to rent for the first hill, but it wasn't a problem. They even offered some horse drawn buggy rides included in the admission, but we didn't stay all day and weren't able to take advantage of that. I asked as we were leaving about 4:00 and was told they were putting the horses up to rest early because they were getting tired and hot. This really pleased me that they were taking care of the horses and concerned for them. Everyone seemed to have a very loving and caring attitude for the animals. We were able to pet these very large horses too. The bird show (and other animals) provided a very up close and personal experience. The cave tour was very nice and informative and well maintained. There were many formations and features and a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. In a couple if places we had to duck and in one short passage the larger of us in the group turned sideways to pass through, but it wasn't difficult or frightening. Some areas were quite large and open and beautiful. Oh, and we also got to try to play a Didgeridoo at the gift shop and to sample some delicious fudge. It really was a nice way to spend the afternoon! Also, it was nice they offered a AAA discount too.

Thank you for your wonderful review on our park. It seems as though you were able to visit all of the areas available, with the exception of the horse rides, and that you thoroughly enjoyed yourself. We do love our animals very much, and with the weather being what it has been, we tend to keep a close watch on all of them to ensure that they do not get overheated. We are also glad that you enjoyed the cave tour as well, as we feel as though it is rather beautiful. We hope that you will visit us in the future as we are acquiring new animals to interact with as well as opening some exciting new exhibits.
