“Excellent BBQ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

A very clean and a very cute little country restaurant. Very friendly staff and very accommodating. The BBQ is excellent! Their restaurant should be on the Travel/Food Networks for their BBQ. Not only was the BBQ delicious, but their side dishes were too. Their prices were unbelievable. A great place to feed a hungry family. Lots of food for the money. I have never had corn bread fried in a pan like a pancake and it had an amazing taste. We ate at Mama Lou's twice and the second time was a Friday Night and the restaurant was packed with people enjoying their BBQ Dinners. I know that when we visit Kentucky again, we will be eating at Mama Lou's BBQ.

“Awesome Kentucky BBQ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

We went on a family trip to from Michigan to Kentucky to see the caves and the surrounding areas. We stayed in Horse Cave and thought we would try some local BBQ the first day we were there. It was a Tuesday so it wasn't busy at all and we were not so sure about trying the food but we picked a table and sat down. The staff was friendly and helpful and food turned out to be awesome! Most of us ordered the BBQ rib dinner for $9.99, ribs, two sides and corn bread or Texas toast. For my two sides I got the green beans and fried potatoes with onions, soooooooo good! My son got the baked beans and cole slaw which were also very good! Big portions, great tasting food!We were a full and happy family when we were finished all 7 of us. We went back on our last night in town, a Friday night and the place was packed! All the tables inside were full so we ate outside on the deck picnic style which turned out great because the scenery looking up the mountain looks like a paintingThe food again was awesome! They were having a Friday night BBQ chicken special which some of us of got, some got the ribs again, my 9 year old daughter got her favorite pulled pork sandwich and I got 3 sides, the fried potatoes, green beans and baked beans. And we got to meet Mama Lou herself! If we go back to Kentucky again, we will be back Mama Lou's!

“Best barbecue ever!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

What a great little place. The barbecue was amazing and cornbread to die for. Delicious, moist and tasty. I live in a town where people go just for the barbecue and this jewel was a great find! Obviously the poor comments were from food snobs that are CLUELESS!!!

“Not a diamond in the rough..”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2013

We love finding the awesome tucked away gems especially BBQ. This is not it! Canned corn, processed cheese slices, soggy flavorless corn cake and brisket that was sugary and had a look and texture of canned meat. The pork was good but the sauce was sweet and mediocre. 2 sandwiches, I kids meal (gross) and 3 waters..)$21.00.. CASH only.

“Clean with good service but....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

This is the first place i've ever been that had absolutely tasteless BBQ. no flavor whatsoever. Place is clean and service is friendly, but for a place that specializes in BBQ, they have a ways to go food wise. it wasn't that it was bad, it just wasn't good. Maybe they had an off day.....
