Not much to dislike here...lovingly restored buildings, a landscape with plenty of hiking and wildlife and a staff who will interpret and make the lives of the Shakers literally come to life in the modern era.

Brought the family to the Spirit Walk (open to the public Free event) the Friday/Sat before Halloween. Enjoyed carrying candle lit lanterns along the long lane at the village to the historic cemetery in the evening. Several reenactors play the rolls of historic figures from the village and greet the walkers with personal stories. (no ghosts or frightful things).
The hotel yard provided 2 small bonfires and seating all around. Marshmallows and small sticks for roasting. The children enjoyed an opportune night of great weather and family fun.

Great for anyone, romantic, small kids, adults, elders, teens! My 12 year old and 19 year old guest loved it- we'll, so did I. Went on spirit walk - during which people reenacted life in various time periods since the village was established in the 1800. Live demonstration of shaker music, broom making, life of shakers. Wonderful dinner at the Shaker Inn, great fish dinner and atmosphere. Hay bails for kids to climb on, fields for them to run in. Take a wagon ride and listen to history. Second time there, will go back. Rooms in Trustee building are still in old shaker style but with comfy beds.

We spent a day here and very much enjoyed it. We learned a lot about shaker culture and enjoyed the craft exhibits. The lunch at the dining room was excellent. Highly recommended if you are interested in American history.

We loved visiting Shaker Village. We didn't know that much about the "Shakers" and learned so much from the staff dressed in period dress. One of the highlights was the music program - all singing and story-telling about the Shaker culture. Watching the people recreate this time in history making brooms, chairs, spinning yarn, etc. were very interesting and a vital part of what this village did as part of their daily lives. Quite an interesting spot to visit. I'm glad we allowed a half day to visit this village!
