“Great history, gross food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

It would have been better if Shaker Village had kept serving the recipies of the Shaker's and not served alcohol. Doesn't feel very historical. Plus, they've stopped using products from the Village's farm. The food is disgusting. But, the history and the presenters are worth the price of admission, and the boat ride is not to be missed. Truly incredible view of the Kentucky Pallisades and High Bridge, and Kentucky wildlife.

“Historic interpretation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

It is so nice to see how things used to be done, to eat the food and even to stay at the inn that has been decorated in Shaker style furnishings. On an autumn day, this is a very pretty place to spend the day.

The food here was wonderful. The village was interesting and very well kept. The gift shop offered a wide variety of nice items.

“Most everything closed”

We visited in early November and we didn't see anyone around. We drove around enjoyed the fall colors and weather. The stacked stone fences are great. Very little wheelchair access.

“Hiking Trails through Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

I go to Shakertown regularly since I live in nearby, in Wilmore. My favorite thing to do is hike or mtn bike the 30+ miles of trails out there, Shawnee Creek Trail is my favorite, ask for a map near restaurant or find the bird blind near the west lot and get a map there. Trails are a bit potted by horses, but beautiful mix of woods, fields & creekbeds -- with a few historic sites. I have never stayed overnight but the buildings are stunning and the restaurant is unbelievably good for a special meal.
