Done this the past two summers..Its so nice! I'd get there 45 minutes before sunset begins, so you don't have to park as far..We take beach chairs and a cooler and some wine..People just hanging out on the beach until the ceremony starts--which is a few patriotic tunes over the loudspeakers and then the veterans flag lowering ceremony while the sun sets into the bay..Very peaceful..

It isn't called Sunset Beach for nothing. Beautiful sunsets as well as great flag lowering ceremony. Stores are one of a kind. Only fly in the ointment is many mosquitoes! They have spray but if you are like me you don't want that stuff on your skin. Hopefully in the future they can do something about it because the course is good.

A nice, small quiet beach just past the Cape May Lighthouse. 3 little shops and a cafe, with food and ice cream and a deck with tables and chairs. There is a reason it's called Sunset Beach, the sunsets there are beautiful! The beach is mainly pebbles, so bring a shovel and sifter to look for Cape May Diamonds!

This is a great spot for watching the sunset and hunting for "Cape May Diamonds". I have never tried to swim here but someone in my family always ends up wet! We start out diamond hunting and strolling along the waters edge. Then someone is out to their knees... then a wave comes! every. time. It's the type of day trip where I try to remember to pack certain family members a change of clothes. It's not a soft powdery beach - it's pebbles! Fun to sit and sift through, not too fun to walk on! The gift shops are really nice. Dont miss the smaller one that sells the rocks and geodes. Cool stuff. Of course it's great in the summer, but if it's the middle of winter and I need a beach 'fix' - this is where we go!
