Description: The Old Stone Farmhouse is an award winning, fine dining restaurant. Set in a wooded valley close to the 11th hole of the Mahogany Run Golf Course, this restaurant is located in a 200 year old restored field house on the lush countryside of St. Thomas. It was created as a stable for a nearby Danish sugar plantation, and the walls are more than 2 feet thick. Ceiling fans and breezes blowing through the valley keep the place cool. The building's distinctive character is shown with native stone walls, original hardwood floors, brick arches, and a charming covered palm-lined courtyard. The restaurant features "Chef Inspired" fine dining in an intimate and elegant atmosphere. The cuisine is ingredient driven and will change with each season. The Old Stone Farmhouse is one of the most romantic and elegant dinner settings anywhere, offering old-world charm and a second-to-none dining experience. Personalized attention makes dining here a delight.

“One of the best meals ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2011

We had one of our best meals ever at OSF. Food was outstanding and the experience of dining there was unforgettable. As good as any in New York. As other reviewers mention, you are treated to a visit to the kitchen where you get to meet the chef and check out the evening's meat and fish selections. The staff was very attentive. The setting was beautiful. What else can I say? It was expensive (although not much more than other places on the island) but worth every dollar. If you pick only one restaurant on St. Thomas for a romantic and memorable evening, this would be it.

“Wonderful food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2011

Fabulous restaurant - service detail is impeccable - food wonderful. The service starts with your own menu with your name on it with a wax seal, then you are taken back into the immaculate kitchen and shown the meat of the day on ice, then they check on you often but not too much. The atmosphere is lovely in a 300 year old updated structure. The food was so good and we ate way too much. We had the cheese plate, a salad and soup, the fish of the day and the roast, AND dessert. We don't drink... They gave us a tour of the restaurant and told us all about it. It was a whole evening and it was wonderful.

“Wow - Incredible meal, atmosphere - perfect evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2011

My girlfriend and I eat out at a lot of restaurants in NYC and this would rank right up there with all of them in terms of the quality of the food, the breadth of the menu and the amazing atmosphere. The new chef (as of Oct 2010 I think) has completely redone the menu and the energy of the place - the staff seemed really excited about the new regime (and weren't at all aware of their great rating on TripAdvisor!)

The design of the restaurant is beautiful, with exposed brick, huge open windows that let in a cool breeze, warm lighting, good music (think Nat King Cole, Frank, Dean, etc..) and perfectly spaced tables for a quiet meal. Men - bring your ladies here.

The staff were incredibly nice and attentive, but not in a stuffy way at all - a level of service I haven't found at any other restaurant in St Thomas in 3 trips and many meals out. We were a little apprehensive about the trip back to the kitchen, but it was great. The chef was nice and you could really get a sense of how much he cares about the experience his diners get . They showcased all of their fresh fish and meat and had a little snack for us while we listened to the source of all of the items and all of the combinations we could make for our entrees. They allowed us to have 1/2 servings of a number of items so that we could maximize our sampling of their menu.

Everything we had was incredible: gazpacho soup (amazing - a little spicy and a cool introduction of a hummus on the bottom), kobe beef steak, lamb, wahoo, etc...and the bread pudding...mmm....

I couldn't recommend this restaurant more highly. It is a slice of big city quality, without the pretense, in a Caribbean atmosphere. This meal convinced me to sign up to write reviews on TripAdvisor after years of traveling and using this site! If you have one meal out in ST, this should be it!

“Elegant, Delicious Dining and yet a terrific value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2011

From the time you arrive and your car is valeted away (complimentary), you will be treated to a wonderful oasis of luxurious dining on an island not famous for excellent service. The staff welcomes you with a personalized menu, closed with sealing wax and escorts you to a lovely dining room. The food is amazing, the portions are great and you can even visit the kitchen to select your own meat chop or slice of fish to be prepared for you.
Don't miss it!

“Old Stone Farmhouse is the real deal. Period.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2011

It took a little while for us to find great food on the island, but once I logged on here and found the positive reviews, I knew we had to try OSFH. Without a doubt, it was great. My wife says it's the best food she's ever had and it's most definitely right up there for me as well.

We started the night at the bar chatting it up with Robert. It took us until the end of the night to realize that the entire service staff was from the US mainland. I don't say this to be mean or anything like that. It was actually refreshing to get some mainland hospitality in an area where hospitality toward tourists isn't usually the priority. Robert was great and explained some of the history to us while we waited on our table to be ready.

At the table, the night only got better. We overlooked the golf course and sat in an open-air room with great mood lighting. We took our trip back to the kitchen to review the butcher's block options for the evening and were greeted warmly by Chef Greg. Greg wasn't the typical chef you see on TV or anything. He's a younger guy originally from Southern California, but after tasting the food, you'd have no idea that he wasn't a chef with 40 years of experience.

The food. Just... wow. I had the Elk and a smaller Wagyu steak while my wife had a cut of filet mignon. The sides were vegetables and pureed potatoes. We also had some great bread and a caesar salad. I don't know what to say really to describe it. It was great. Awesome. It even LOOKED good. The presentation was elegant and delightful with a little bit of playfulness as well.

We just really enjoyed it. This is truly how a restaurant should be. While the price was on the high side (we spent $126 with tip on a meal with no alcohol), it was totally worth it for some of the best food on US soil. If you're deciding between here and somewhere else, don't go elsewhere. It's worth it. Do it.
