Description: The Old Stone Farmhouse is an award winning, fine dining restaurant. Set in a wooded valley close to the 11th hole of the Mahogany Run Golf Course, this restaurant is located in a 200 year old restored field house on the lush countryside of St. Thomas. It was created as a stable for a nearby Danish sugar plantation, and the walls are more than 2 feet thick. Ceiling fans and breezes blowing through the valley keep the place cool. The building's distinctive character is shown with native stone walls, original hardwood floors, brick arches, and a charming covered palm-lined courtyard. The restaurant features "Chef Inspired" fine dining in an intimate and elegant atmosphere. The cuisine is ingredient driven and will change with each season. The Old Stone Farmhouse is one of the most romantic and elegant dinner settings anywhere, offering old-world charm and a second-to-none dining experience. Personalized attention makes dining here a delight.

My husband and I Just returned home from a week in St. Thomas with my sister and her husband. We had read about Old Stone Farmhouse and while they were golfing they actually got to see it since the cart path goes right by. So when we picked them up after golf, we stopped in to see about making reservations. The manager was fun, extremely pleasant, chatted with us for awhile, showed us a sample menu from the previous night - (the menu changes based on local and fresh ingredients - nice!!) We made our reservation and he even allowed us to walk through and request a table if available. We chose the "Wine Room" because we loved the stone walls, wall of wine and the full length doors/windows that would be opened in the evening. When we arrived, he remembered us, and we were seated in the location we desired. It was really nice. Our server was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. As others mentioned, she escorted us to the kitchen to see the special menu items and we did write our names on the wall and took photos. This was a fun way to mark a special evening with family. The sommelier was wonderful, he was also very knowledgeable and recommended the perfect wine pairings to accompany our meal. The appetizers were wonderful (asparagus soup, heirloom tomato salad, duck and oysters) as were our entrees (lamb, scallops and filet). My steak was outstanding and one of the best I've eaten (I'm from Kansas). The valet parking was a nice touch as was the hand created menu we got to keep. The only negative was the length of time from appetizer to entree, but we did tell them we were in no hurry and it gave us more time to enjoy each other's company and the beautiful surroundings.

We had read all of the reviews and were excited to spend our big night out while on vacation at the Old Stone Farmhouse. We are a family of four with two teenagers, and we are used to eating in nice restaurants. As my son is a sometime aspiring chef, we were excited about the concept of going to the kitchen to meet the chef and discuss the proteins. The choices on the menu consist of specials (which we were informed could not be modified), and the proteins we were shown in the kitchen. I guess that I had assumed that the kitchen discussion would involve some imaginative preparations of the ingredients, but instead the sauce choices were predictable and even bland. Don't get me wrong. The dishes were tasty and well-prepared, just not very exciting. My husband did get to try kangaroo as his protein, which was novel. The service was good although pretentious, and the prices were very high.

Sanibelrocks it was nice to read that you choose the Old Stone Farmhouse to spend your big night out while on your vacation, and it is always a pleasure to learn about young adults with the passion of becoming a chef or just to dabble in the kitchen.

I would like to explain our menu concept. Our menu changes daily, this gives the culinary team the ability to create dishes with the freshest ingredients available to them. The "specials" that are offered are dishes that are put together to compliment each component on the plate. The "butcher's block" is a chance for our guests to visit the kitchen and talk with the team about the proteins that are featured (this gives our guests the chance to ask questions about an item that they have never tried, like kangaroo, etc), with many different combinations available that you as the guest can decide. This choice of entree can be prepared with mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the evening to a creative combination of the many sides being offered. This is where as our guests have the ability to create their own menu.

My husband and I are St. Thomas residents and have visited OSFH on a number of occasions over the years. The building and location are beautiful -- this was in fact an old stone plantation home that is situated on what is now Mahogany Run Golf Course. When we learned that OSFH was under new management, we clamored over for dinner and drinks -- and left feeling very dissatisfied. Our appetizers and entrees (surf and turf combinations) were incredibly bland. We tried again -- a second and third time with friends -- we all exited with the same impression -- the food was average at best, pretty terrible at worst.. As much as we love the "Old World charm" of this restaurant, the food pales in comparison to the surroundings. We truly hope that management reads these reviews -- we would love OSFH to enjoy successs, however, there is absolutely no pizzazz to the food that is being served.

It is always nice to read a response from a St. Thomas resident, as well as, our many visitors to the island, but it is not always as nice to hear about the dissatisfaction of their visit. We strive to achieve a standard at the Old Stone Farmhouse that all of our guests leave with the best experience, from the beautiful location of the charming building to the culinary creations. Tony and I would personally like to invite you to dine with us again. Our every changing menu will excite you and we promise you will be truly pleased.

OK, it was a dark and rainy evening. And if you've been to St. Thomas, you know what the roads - and drivers - are all about. AND driving on the "wrong" side of the road doesn't lessen stress. But go find this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. Housed in an old plantation, it's open and airy setting is complimented by a wonderful menu. Our wait person was very patient and thorough when explaining dinner offerings. Before ordering, though, you're invited to the kitchen to see what's fresh and tempting. As you leave the kitchen, you can pencil your name or favorite phrase on the walls, if you can find an open space. This was a fun restaurant for two sisters, a brother, and spouses to sit, enjoy, converse, and get reacquainted. Try it! But pay attention to your driving.

Visited OSF for aspecial occasion: my sister's 40th birthday. Truly memorable experience and recommended without the slightest hesitation: lovely ambiance, patient and attentive staff, very well prepared and high quality dishes. Only negative: when visiting the kitchen to peruse options, it was incredibly hot and humid - wish this could be addressed.
