This is the kind of place you stumble across when you travel by car. I had never heard of Buffalo Trace and just followed the signs. The place is a real piece of history. We did not have time to take the tour but boy did we have fun in the gift shop. And the Buffalo Trace Cream Liqueur is right up there with Bailey's.

This distillery is huge! We enjoyed the Trace Tour and then we have the opportunity to see the Blanton's being bottled. Truly amazing - completely by hand!

A quite a learning experience. We went on 3 different tours the barrel tour, hard hat tour and the regular tour. You have to make reservations for the first 2 tours. Learned something new on every tour will have to go back to see what the other tours provide. We went into places other companies would never take you. Buffalo trace doesnt seem to have much to hide they want you to see it all and enjoy their facility. Dont worry about how the weather is they will help keep you comfy. With all the free tours and free samples it is a piece of history that is a must see.

The facility is much more historic that I would have ever known if I had not gone on the tour. They offer 2 different tours. The regular tour is very informative and contains all the interesting history of the distillery and the bourbon industry. Although this tour gives an overview of the distillation process it does not go "deep". The "hard hat" tour has more of the behind the scenes as to how the bourbon is made at every step of the process. *Warning* The hard hat tour has a lot more walking and A LOT of stairs. The combination of both tours makes this my favorite distillery to visit.

We enjoyed spending an afternoon in Kentucky visiting a bourbon distillery. It was very interesting to learn about the process and they gave generous free samples. The setting is lovely and it's a fun thing to visit a bourbon distillery while you're in Kentucky! We actually ended up really liking their vodka as well.
