Nice local place for families.
Enjoyed brining my out of town family. It has grown over the years. Nice that you can get fishing poles for free.

Salato is a very educational, fun thing for any one to go to. It is very quite and enclosed. Is very safe for young exploring children. Seeing wild animals so close is amazing. When I went last I got to see the buffalo being fed and was around for a bear check up!

Been living in Kentucky for seven years now and finally made our first trip here. It is a great place for kids of all ages. They have some awesome displays of Kentucky wildlife (black bear, bobcats, deer, elk, bison...just to name a few). Make sure you check the calendar of events on their website before you make plans to go. There are educational demonstrations going on at different times throughout the week. Very informative and fun. Please keep in mind, this is a completely non-profit facility. There is no gift shop so their funding comes from donations and the $5 entrance fee.

My husband is a forever fan of Kentucky Afield. He saw an episode featuring Salato Wildlife Education Center and decided we should take one of our grandson's there during Spring Break. This must be how it felt to be Elvis. We had the place almost to ourselves. All the animals were frolicking in the nippy spring temps, except for the groundhog, who, for valid reasons, is on the witness protection program. The center is so user friendly that there is a sign posted to let visitors know if an animal is out an about or enjoying some quiet time. Kudos to the design team - well thought out placement made great photo ops without being intrusive. The staff is informed and informative without stalking guests through the exhibits. Well, worth the drive and price of admission.

Great place to visit with a group of kids. They can see why wildlife in Kentucky is all about. If you’re in town stop here, very interesting and you can stay 15 minutes or 2-3 hours.....
