This is the 4th time we have taken our grand children on the Sante Special over the last five years, First of all you can no longer use the footbridge over the tracks to reach the departing train , you now have to cross the tracks , not too safe for elderly and very young children. when the train arrived ten minutes late all the people waiting to get on where asked to wait while the returning passengers got of and the coaches where cleaned and we would be told when we could get on, but there was only one person in charge of all the passengers and he dissappeared down the other end of the platform , then the people waiting to go on starting pushing thenselves forward and getting on the train , nobody about to stop them , we had to grab hold of our grand children as they where being pushed and jostled , we got on board ten mins later when told we could , there should have been more staff on the platform to control this situation , not as good as our last Santa Special 2 years ago , no lady with the balloons also stopped at Market Bosworth for over 15 mins, there was no heating on in our coach and it was not as good as previose trips, i will think twice before going again which is a shame just needs better organising and communications .

i took a party of twelve on the Santa special today, which was excellent. The children both received age relevant good presents from Santa, a packet of sweets and a carton of fruit juice, whilst the adults had a small wine or sherry together with a most delicious mince pie! The carriages were clean, and warm and Christmas music played in the background.
A very enjoyable experience - thank you to all of the volunteers that keep the line open.

booked a family trip down the line for my grandson to see Father Christmas ..... And he enjoyed it, very well organised ,by all volunteers. The grotto was so nicely done. ,and Father Christmas waved us bye as we left the train .excellent touch. The gifts received are of very good quality .....
I would like to mention though , we felt it would of been better to have given out the children's drinks and sweets before the adults ,
Thank you
We will be back next year ..

We have a two year old who loves trains so this was ideal for his 1st visit to see Santa. The toys were good, the staff friendly and attentive and the mince pies were yummy!

Despite previous comments this is a volunteer run attraction which is run by events like this and donations. The volunteers clearly care and the Xmas train was a nice experience. My son of 4 really enjoyed the experience which is approx 1.5 hours long. Mince pie and wine or sherry for the adults and a quality toy for the kids - All toys were of good quality. Will be back next year.
