“Still unbelievably outstanding value for such an excellent stopover in the centre of France.”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We stayed here again in 2012 and everything was just as excellent as when I last reviewed it on 13 September 2011. It is a large house, elegantly furnished in a very French style with large comfortable rooms.

We arrived a little early so we relaxed under the trees until Marie-Claude arrived to welcome us, enjoying the peaceful rural setting out of earshot of the autoroute which was only a few kilometres away.

Dinner started outside under a large canopy, but we moved into the enormous kitchen to finish the meal as the clouds built up overhead and the unseasonable rain followed. The following morning’s breakfast was as lavish as ever and, like the dinner, was freshly prepared from the best quality local produce.

Once again it was a marvellous rest stop on our journey south. It would also make an ideal base for visiting the centre of France. We shall return whenever we are in that part of France.

The beautiful property is located only 5 minutes from the A71 but was so quiet and full of character and history. Our room was so very French and totally charming, as was Madame who prepared a wonderful meal for us and 4 other guests. Everything is restful and calm; a prefect resting place en route north or south.

This is an oasis of French tranquility. The house is charming as is the owner. The room was typically French, clean and comfortable, We stayed in the Rose room with walls covered in silk moire and fabrics of tuile. The bathroom was huge and well appointed.
We were lucky to be there on a warm evening and had dinner on the terrace, excellent home cooked meal, in our case vegetable soup, roasted quail, roast potatoes and green beans, cheeses and a delicious apple tart. This was accompanied but a very pleasant local wine and was astonishingly good value. The breakfast was in the dining room and a real feast! Definitely recommended for a night or two on the way through France.

This is a perfect stopover in the centre of France only a couple of kilometres from an autoroute exit. It is a substantial old house set in tranquil green countryside, tastefully furnished in traditional style but with all modern comforts, including air conditioning in some rooms.

This year we stayed in the Sand bedroom, which is large, light and airy with a large bathroom, both decorated in light colours and immaculately clean. We have previously stayed in the Rose bedroom with its warmer pink-toned décor and also with a large bathroom. Each room had a small library of books including novels and local interest. They also had tea-making facilities which are not common in France. The dining room is richly decorated in elegant French style, including marble, and there is a beautifully furnished sitting room with books, magazines, and tourist information.

The food is outstanding. We deliberately planned our holiday to include this place this year and were pleased to find it as excellent as on our previous visits. Dinner started with vegetable soup, followed by boeuf bourguignon with boiled potatoes, then a green salad, then cheeses and finally an apricot tart. It was all expertly prepared from their own farm’s produce and accompanied by a bottle of very good local wine.. The following morning we enjoyed the most sumptuous continental breakfast we have ever encountered. There was fresh orange juice, yoghurt, croissants, pain-au-chocolat, brioche, bread and home-made jams and honey, plus the remains of the previous evening’s apricot tart. Like the dinner, there was far more than the two of us could eat.

It is amazing value for such high quality food and accommodation.
