This is a nice hotel with really nice rooms but, even in early April, my room was far too hot despite having the French doors open all night. Significantly there was a large free-standing fan in the room so other occupants had obviously suffered the same awful conditions as myself. The fan was noisy and, consequently, between the heat of the room and the noise of the fan, I endured a terrible night and felt drained the next morning. The food in the restaurant was satisfactory but you expect better than satisfactory bearing in mind the cost of DBB in the hotel. I don't mind paying a high price for a high quality stay but this was a high price for a mediocre overall experience. They think they are better than they actually are (based on my experience). If you want a luxury hotel in the area, you will readily find better for this kind of price. I have just submitted an 'excellent' review on another hotel in the Eden Hotel Collection. They could teach this hotel a thing or two!

Room Tip: Make sure you check out the temperature of the room immediately. I thought mine would cool down overnight and despite making sure no heating being on in the room, it was terribly hot, even with the French doors open and that was at the start of April!

We stayed here on a spa break which is pretty good value for money. The spa is super, with all the things you would expect. There is a very sheltered outside courtyard with tables and chairs and a hot tub, and also an indoors dining area so if you order food you eat comfortably and don't have to go to the hotel dining room in your dressing gown. We had a cream tea, the scones were super fresh and the clotted cream a generous portion. The hotel is in a 16th century country house so the building and the decor are traditional and elegant. The room we had was spacious and comfortable, the plumbing isn't very reliable but given the age of the building that is perhaps understandable. There was a blind for blackout, but the turn down service didn't close it so make sure if you are bothered by light in the morning. There are beautiful gardens and grounds and it's far enough from the main road that you can't hear traffic, and you will hear lots of birds. The restaurant menu is exciting with plenty of choice and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. They are also justifiably proud that their menu is local, seasonal and organic when possible. Service in the restaurant was friendly and efficient, although I would have liked bread on the table rather than waiting for it to come round. Breakfast was fantastic, varied and generous with good service. There is wifi in the rooms but it's not secure which is a pain, and the only thing I would change

We stayed here two weeks ago to attend a wedding at the hotel, and sadly to say left afterwards feeling very disappointed! The staff were pleasant at check in and the room we were given was very large and appeared to have everything we needed. Oddly though when we came to unpack there wasn't enough space for the clothes and the tea tray and coffee maker were kept in the wardrobe ? I moved them but still there wasn't enough room for our things. We had afternoon tea which was fine and thank god we did because the evening meal wasn't very much and certainly no dining experience! Our room was over the spa which made it very warm, the was an air con unit but it was noisy and didn't seem to blow cold air, we slept with the doors open. Breakfast on both mornings was possibly the worst we have had, one tip go for the omelette at least it won't have been sitting around for a while! Our room wasn't serviced after the first night although somebody did turn down the bed? Shame they couldn't have re-stocked the tea tray. The second night we were kept awake all night by the music from the spa - not really that soothing after a few hours, I tried to contact the night porter 4times and just kept getting the answer machine assuring me someone would ring back. I complained in the morning and was told that the spa had closed and there were still 2people eating so they left them and the music to it, they didn't seem that bothered about it. I put all these issues on the feedback form and had hoped someone would get in touch but no, havnt heard a thing. Very dissappointed and certainly won't be back.

Room Tip: Not over the spa.

We stayed here for a night as a treat to ourselves following a holiday with relatives as it was on the way home. The place itself is lovely, nice amount of parking and easy to find.

We were given a quick show around on check in then led to our room. We went for the classic which in our case was Yew. I was expecting room + en suite, we got this but also a study area and walk in wardrobe which we were really impressed by. I've stayed at hotels marginally cheaper with a lot less space.

With 3.5 hours on the road behind us we practically raced to the spa. The ladies at the spa reception were lovely and showed us round as it was our first time there. Given it was a Friday at 6pm it was fairly quiet and we had the hot tub to ourselves with a bottle of presecco. The pool was just the right temperature, and the experience showers were a fun touch (especially the storm!) The steam room was also good but we didn't have time for the sauna so can't comment on that.

Onto dinner; as many have said -this is quality over quantity. But the quality is superb. We went for the a la carte menu, and were given 3 canapés each and an amuse-bouche of tuna before the 3 courses. All of which were quite rich food of amazing quality. We were full by the end of it but nicely full not stuffed. Sometimes you want pub style comfort food, sometimes beer and a dominos! But this is dinner for special occasions. The service was also great, kudos to the waiter who recommended an amazing wine to go with our meal. Finished off with coffee, petit fours and a cocktail. In the lounge was a cupboard of board games including scrabble - a great end to the evening.

All in all a great stay. Yes, it is pricey. Very pricey. But if you want a one off relaxing break with amazing service you won't be disappointed.

We spent three nights at the Greenway Hotel and although it was a pleasant break there is no way the hotel can justify its inflated prices, particularly in relation to its "Dining Experience".
The" superior room" where we stayed was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. However it did suffer from an oppressive room temperature and the occasional aroma of drains in the bathroom. We were informed that due to the proximity of the room( situated in the coach house) to the sauna, this was indeed an issue which had been commented upon by previous guests, hence the presence of a stand alone Fan in the corner of the room.

We dined only the once in the restaurant for evening meal opting for the cheaper Brasserie menu. Following a disappointing starter of salmon and crab and a chicken Caesar salad which was just passable the main meal arrived. My wife opted for a burger with fries whilst I had the cod and
chips with pea puree. The "controlled portions" of the servings were almost laughable. Although these two dishes were reasonably tasty the portions were of very modest quantity . The burger meal was not even accompanied with a salad garnish. When we asked for an accompaniment of coleslaw we were informed by the waitress that due to the BH just passed, the hotel did not have any. The hotel will no doubt hide behind the banner of "Fine Dining", however in this day and age "value for money" is very important, not least when sitting down for a so called quality meal. Coupled with a bottle of Pinot Grigio which cost £21.00, the whole disappointing and unsatisfactory experience cost us £81.00. Considering that both of us aren t huge eaters we left the table underwhelmed and somewhat feeling "ripped off". NOTE: The a la carte menu is a set £ 49.99 per head.....I fear that those portions could well be smaller than ours.

Breakfast on the first day was also very disappointing. My wife ordered smoked haddock and poached eggs. Having to wait over 30 minutes for the dish was frustrating enough; having a piece of haddock the size of a 50 pence piece served up with two hard boiled eggs was totally unsatisfactory. The tea was weak and the toast completely undercooked.
In fairness the breakfasts did improve considerably over the next two days to what I would describe as good quality.
On day 2 and three we ended up walking into the village where we had two very good meals at a Pub which served varied and wholesome food.

On the positive side the Spa was very nice and relaxing and the hotel itself is charming. Staff were also polite and a credit to the hotel.

As a couple we are not impressed with excessive pretence; but if that is the nature of the beast in this sort of establishment at least the owners should provide value for money for customers.

If you re not fussed about paying outlandish prices for your spartan meals and average rooms then do give this place a try. We came back relaxed but probably would not return again.

Room Tip: If possible avoid rooms adjacent to spa.
