“A cut above the rest”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

The Blue Dish has elevated the "brunch cafe" to a new height. The property is a bit snug, and almost always full. The food has never disappointed, and is definitely in a class of its own for the brunch/lunch style of cafe. The service can get a bot slow sometimes, simply because the place gets full and the space constraints make it hard for the staff to move around quickly. If you sometimes have to wait a bit for your meal, it's worth it!

“Worth driving to, an unexpected find!”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

We live some distance (8 km) from Highett in a part of Melbourne that is renowned for its cafes. And yet, I am always happy to meet friends at the Blue Dish, driving out of cafe country, to this small suburban strip shopping area. The cafe has a great breakfast/ brunch and lunch menu, with excellent coffee. Some time back, it changed hands and we held our breath as to whether the transition would be a good one. The original owners' high standards have been maintained and the atmosphere is still as friendly and professional. There is one excellent waiter who has been there all that time, and his attention to customer service and his welcoming style is great. The previous owner who was French set high standards, established a great menu and these have been retained. There is room for larger groups in the room at the back, and I've noticed that often people seem to come together for what seem to be festive occasions. It is a place where you can go alone and sit and read, while enjoying the coffee. I have never felt as if I should hurry. They have gluten free bread and attend to the needs of Coeliacs. I would recommend this cafe as one of my favourite breakfast places.

“All Day Brekkie the best of the south”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Yep, great restaurant, fine breakfast dining, hard to get through that breakfast menu, baked eggs an absolute delight, very busy but recently expanded so much more comfortable and kitchen refurb is great. Takeaway baked goods look great, but stay for the coffee, even had lunch with the corn fritters fantastic. Food, wine, even dinners on some nights. 7am starts mean early coffee for me, the best in town. Service is very friendly. Been coming here for a few years now after moving from Sydney. First time living in the south of Melbourne, so this has been a treasure for me. Keep up the good work guys. Go Bombers.
