This place is like paradise. Old Balinese style buildings in the middle of rice fields. The rooms are incredibly beautiful, the staff is extremely friendly, organic food was delicious and there was free yoga every morning. The best part is that it is run by a foundation that provides education and work to poor Balinese children hence everything you spent there goes back to these beautiful and friendly kids. It was an incredible experience.

This resort has really big old rooms with great big 4 poster bed and antique sideboard etc. If you don't mind the odd mouse in room it was a great place. It is a training hotel for underprivileged teenagers. The kids were all really friendly, very helpful and loved a chat. They offer yoga each morning for donation and mediation in arvo for small cost. The food at the the restaurant is all organic and very nice. It is a about 10 mins from Ubud but they run a shuttle bus in & out. The gardens are very well kept by the kids who start sweeping, weeding etc about 6-30am each morning, two really big swimming pools that over look the rice fields. If you are not young & fit ask for garden view room as rice field view rooms are on 3rd & 4th floors and there is no lift. There is a new section under construction with rooms available I think on 1st & 2nd floors at moment. Breakfast was basic but if you are not a large eater was plenty to start the day, extras could be ordered and paid for if needed. They have drivers available for trips (we used yoman who was really good. It was very different but very Bali. If you are staying for any length of time you can take classes with the kids teaching them whatever you wish to teach.

Room Tip: request ground floor room or 2nd floor if you are not into steps.

I will start by saying the following: We originally booked to stay here for three nights. After eleven nights we are still here and have just booked an additional seven!

We chose the deluxe garden view room, and this is the only room type we have stayed in. I can't comment on the deluxe rice paddy room (although i'm sure they're amazing too)

The three best things about Suly Resort?

1. It is staffed by some of the sweetest people I have ever met. Bali is lucky to have more than it's fair share of nice smiley people, but this place is FULL of them.

2. The beds. I think it's one of the best beds i've ever slept in. Huge superkingsize wooden framed beauties with lovely soft pillows and clean crisp white sheets

3. The new pool is clean and a lovely place to swim (right on the edge of the green rice paddies)

A simple organic breakfast is included in the room, I normally went for the cheese and vegetable omellete with home made bread and baked potatoes. It is served with fresh juice and coffee or tea. There is also a free yoga class every morning for those who fancy it. My wife is a Yoga teacher herself and tells me that some of the hotels instructors are very good.

There were a couple of nice touches. Our package involved a free massage and there were two cold beers waiting for us in the room's fridge. Oh, and the free shuttle to Ubud (four times daily) is very useful. Oh and there is a lovely oynx bathtub with hot running water (both of these things are unusual to find in South East Asia! espeically in affordable places!)

This place is by no means a five star resort, but the staff will bend over backwards to make your stay as nice as possible. We've had an amazing time (18 nights, speaks for itself!)

If you do end up staying at Suly, then make a point of eating in the Bernadette restaurant next door (turn right as you leave the complex and walk for about 1 minute, just past the furniture shop) It's the best place that we've eaten in Ubud. The food is amazing!! Try the slow cooked beef rendang, it's incredible. Bernadette herself is a gracious and friendly host. If I could do a review for her restaurant I would, but it's only been open two months!

Room Tip: First floor, Garden View Deluxe. 102, 104, 106 or 108. The ground floor ones are good too, but you can sometimes hear people above

we booked the family room and loved it,Spacious with huge canopied beds. The staff were smiling, friendly and always helpful.Breakfast was simple but good and organic.Didn't get a chance to try the yoga, but enjoyed our stay so much we are going back for a few days this month.Tours through the hotel are very expensive and I would book them elsewhere.Location is a bit out of the way but has a free shuttle or you can pay 25,00o rupiah and go anytime if you dont want to wait, thats only about 3 dollars.Serene location with rice paddies surrounding.Good value for money.

Large old rooms are charming with mosquito netted 4 poster beds, bathtub and shower, delicious organic food at restaurant. Free Yoga in mornings surrounded by ricefields, new swimming pool. Ride into Ubud free at certain hours, otherwise a small fee. No complaints - very restful and relaxing place. Meditatiion classes also.
