Maya is very beautiful and you could just lounge the day away there. At first I didn't find the staff as friendly as I had at other 5 star hotels in Bali but I soon realised it's all just a bit understated there, not flashy. Gorgeous gardens and lovely pools, we had a pool villa on the western side, perhaps the pool villa's on the eastern side have a more private outlook. Our villa looked out to the rice fields and we could see people living and work there.
I loved the natural setting and architectural style. Very good breakfast selection, afternoon tea is complimentary but nothing to write home about. The yoga in the morning is complimentary and for beginners, if you are experienced you may want to go into ubud and try one of the yoga centres there that offer an array of classes.
Maya is a couple of minutes out of town and we caught the shuttle bus in and a taxi back at night (as the bus service finishes around 5pm). The hotel is so lovely it's hard to leave there. Not many kids there, it seems like an adult enviroment.
It's kind of quite there, so if you are a busy person it may not be for you. If you like a natural setting and chilling out you'll love it.More
