Maya Ubud is amazing!! It is set in the perfect setting just outside of Ubud. It is about a 10 - 15 minute walk into town but the shuttle runs from 8-5. You probably wouldn't want to walk home at night but there are people offering transport everywhere!!! If you do walk home make sure to stop in the store on the little road leading to maya ubud - there are some chicken holders out next to it and it will be on your left. They sell the Balinese knives which are amazing and reasonable. We used them in a cooking class and wanted to find one.

The restaurants were good and they have nice performances a couple of times a week. We loved the river cafe on the property and the pool down by the spa. Happy hour is from 6-8 every night at the bar and they often had a singer. The setting is perfect and you feel like you are in the middle of a forest! Make sure to do the nature walk that takes you down by the river. It is absolutely beautiful!

The staff at Maya Ubud is so friendly and helpful. They all seem so happy to be working there. I really wanted to find one of the holders they use for the mosquito coils and they helped me find one. They went out of their way!

After coming here from the over crowded area in nusa dua this was what we had imagined Bali to be like. Next time we will go straight to ubud and skip nusa dua completely. Thanks for a great stay!!

A very beautiful hotel set in the centre of the island Bali.
Very green and lovely, with a beautiful bungelow all to ourselves.
The room had its own secluded backyard, with outdoor pool and shower. So you can just jump out of bed in to the garden and wakeup with the most precious view.
Staff were very friendly and polite.
Only downside was a group of americans staying as they are noisy at breakfast and diner in the restaurant. But they left after one night, and peace returned!
there are 2 great big infinity pools and an excellent spa facility. Also a small golf-course.
We had a wonderful stay here.
the nature and the little river nearby make it a paradise to stay.

Room Tip: go for the bungelows! private and lovely, and experience you will not forget.

This is a simply breathtaking hotel. Set in the mountain side almost everything about this place was sensational. The staff are fantastic and ensure they get to know all of their guests on a personal level. The two pools are awesome, the infinity pool is one of the best I have have ever seen and I have stayed in a lot of hotels. I heard people saying that the food is very expensive on site. I think it's always going to be more expensive than any local restaurants but I think at times you get what you pay for. The duck dinner was seriously good and not over priced. As a bit of a fitness freak I was pleased to find a small but well equipped gym on site to help me get over the Bintangs. The hotel is within easy reach of excursions, we went bike riding from the top of Ubud and checked out temples and the local towns. The weather is not quite as good as Jimbaran or Camakila where I stayed afterwards but once the cloud clears mid morning it was generally pretty nice with decent periods of sunshine. For anyone looking to stay in Ubud give this hotel some serious thought, out and out luxury and beautiful nature at a competitive price. The Spa set up here is amazing too!

Room Tip: If you can afford it step up to a villa with your own private pool.

An absolute gem of a resort, with gorgeous surroundings. The nature surrounding the resort and the way it's been incorporated in to the landscape is well thought out and fitting. We particularly enjoyed the pools and the nature walk, with it's hidden away pavilions (if you're willing to explore and find them) which appeared to be always empty! This really gave you the sense of the being more in a nature park and less in a resort. It is really all about the setting with this place. If you can make it up for the early morning yoga, it sets one up nicely for the day. Relaxing!
The breakfast was excellent and the service we experienced was exceptional. We took up the rice paddy & village trekking and found the guide to be knowledgeable, friendly and fun.

Unfortunately there were two things which struck us as being slightly disappointing.
The prices of almost everything in the hotel were expensive. I guess it's to be expected with a resort of this calibre, but it was twice the price of the significantly more isolated resort on the other side of the island we'd been at before. We found there to be similar quality alternatives in Ubud itself for a much lower price. A good example is the fire and trance show, which had half the number of people when performed in resort, but was considerably more expensive.
Secondly it's disappointing that the transfers in to town ended much earlier than some other resorts, forcing you in to taking a taxi to head out in the evening. Again taxi's from the hotel were twice as much as we paid in town.

A lovely resort overall, and to be recommended! The setting would be hard to beat!

We booked a villa (without the pool) for the days after our wedding. We had some other wedding guests that also stayed with us. It was a great venue. The blend between luxury and nature is great. The breakfast was awesome too, but the highlight of the stay was the Spa. We booked the rivierside escape package, which consisted of a 90 minute massage, then a 30 minute scrub or bath, followed by a 2-course dinner at the riverside cafe. The spa suites are amazing and you can hear the river flowing in the background. The packaged dinner was better than expected with a Tuna steak on a boiling hot stone.

I can recommend this place without any hesitation, all aspects were good, staff, service, environment.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra to go from the normal villa to the one with the small plunge pool. Not because of the pool, but because the pool villa's seem to have more privacy and an amazing view. The normal villa's have a nice view, but less privacy.
