“Nice hotel worth staying at despite a few nuances.”
Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

Nice hotel that's marred by small nuances. Access to the parking garage is clunky. It involves stairs and an elevator ride to get to the lobby. Drop off under the canopy then park, or pay for valet. Ask if there will be events during your stay. River side reception hall could be heard on 4th floor. That said, the view, on the riverside, is a beautiful look towards downtown Cincinnati. If you walk down by the water there are gorgeous murals along the levee. If you're here for a convention, it is literally across the street. There are many restaurants a short distance, but few within short walking distance. There are trolleys, buses, and cabs though. Cab ride to Cincinnati was $8, the trolleys would have been $1/person. I'd say the breakfast was above average, but not spectacular.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We appreciate comments and suggestions such as yours as hearing from our guest is how we grow. The hotel lobby is located on the second floor as the hotel is designed and built against the Army Corp flood wall. The flood wall protects the hotel and many other businesses from potential flooding as the Ohio River rises and falls very frequently. I understand your comments regarding the confusion getting to/from the city-owned parking garage however we have attempted to post a variety of directional signage to help you navigate. Again, thank you for the comments! We look forward to serving you again in the future!

We secured our room via Priceline Name Your Own Price. We got a good deal. Parking was very easy since there is a garage connected to the hotel. I think you can get Valet parking, too. The lobby was very nice with fountains and seating areas. We didn't realize the room was a suite, even though the name has suite in it. The room was very nice. It has a sitting area and a separate bedroom. The bed was comfortable. I'm a little picky about pillows and these pillows were not my favorite, but they were not the worst pillows I've had in hotel rooms either.

Breakfast was a little disappointing. I guess you can't complain that much when it is "complimentary." They had eggs, bacon, pancakes, bagels, yogurt, fruit and cooked-to-order omelettes. The eggs tasted like nothing. The food was just sub-par and I should have just gone to First Watch down the street for something tastier.

We agree with the other reviews. This is an older hotel which has not be remodeled, although it was very clean. For the price and the valet parking, etc. we expected a higher-end establishment and were very disappointed. Entering at street level and figuring out valet parking or self parking and sending your luggage upstairs to the lobby was VERY confusing. Once upstairs and into the lobby though, check-in went smoothly. Check-out was also speedy and smooth.
It was our plan to treat our children, who rarely go to hotels, to a fancy hotel, the pictures make it out to be nicer than it really is.

We encountered the very strong smell of vomit by the elevators, but this was gone by the time we unpacked things in our room and headed out for supper.

The view of the river and Cincinnati were awesome from our room--we got the two bedroom suite so this assured us a view of the river. On this note, the two bedroom suite was perfect for our family of seven. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were in need of paint and remodeling. Bathroom floor had mud on it when we got into the room.

The staff was wonderful. Everyone we encountered was friendly, courteous, and helpful. We would give staff a five star if we could.

Pool was okay, but VERY VERY chilly--children didn't seem to mind after they got in though. Hot tub was also chilly the second day and overly hot the first day. In comparison to the number of rooms the hotel had, this pool was way too small. We found that after 30 minutes of swimming the second day, we had to leave because so many people came in to use the pool; it just got too crowded.

We would have to say that breakfast was also well put together, clean, and plenty to choose from--none of our five children had a problem finding something to eat. The omelet chef was great! In fact the omelet was so big, we couldn't finish them.

Now, for the Behle Cafe, which is attached to the hotel, but apparently run by separate management. We were tired after our 10 hour drive and just wanted something close to the hotel as it was raining and dreary and we didn't want to lug our children out to a restaurant in town--so, we chose the Behle Cafe. BIG, HUGE, MISTAKE. Do not waste your time and your money. Subway just down the sidewalk would have been a better choice and much cheaper. $60 later and after 55 minutes of waiting for our food (with five hungry children waiting), we walked out still hungry and angry--pizzas were disgusting, fries were cold, hair in a hamburger, and food stuck to the inside of a glass. Not to mention terrible service. We had to wait about 10 minutes after our food was served for a waiter to even come out of the back room, let alone to our table to check on how things were.

Overall, we would love to visit the city again, but are seriously considering trying out a different establishment. If we are going to be spending this much money to treat our children, we would like a nicer facility. If you don't mind an older hotel, and you want a great view, then this hotel might be okay.

We appreciate hearing from you. Thank you for taking time to share your points and observations. We are planning a remodeling project for 2013 which will update many aspects of our facility. Your comments will be taken into consideration once we begin this project and I am confident that you will notice the upgrades we have made. I also apologize for the negative comments you made regarding Behle Street Cafe. I know the proprietor and find her to be equally concerned with delivering a quality level of product and service. I will made certain to pass along these comments to their staff. Again, thank you for your comments. We are glad you choose to be our guest and welcome you back in the future!

Upon checkin we went to our room to discover the bathtub full and backed up. Instead of offering us a new room we had to sit in the room and wait as they fixed the tub then sent up someone else to clean it. Very nice floor plan but not kept very clean. Not a bad hotel but not worth the money either.

Once you get past the oddness of entering on the street level, then taking the elevator UP to reception, you are in the heart of the Embassy Suites. Has the old style ring around the courtyard arrangement, but has been redone tastefully and everything really is very good.

Checkin was a breeze, ramp to the elevator for guest access and a quick trip up the middle of the courtyard in the glass front elevator. Walk around the circle (square) and find your room easily. Ahhh. gotta love an all suite hotel, my room had the river view and it is worth every penny.

The suite is LARGE with ample seating and relaxing area out front, good sized bedroom and bathroom awaits. The bed was comfortable with good linens. The bathroom could be the only improvement even remotely needed, the tub has been around awhile but is by no means inadequate. They have added curved shower rods to expand the shower space. The "kitchen area" of the suite has a fridge and microwave if you will be there awhile.

If you read my reviews often, you will know I am a bit of a coffee critic and the in room coffee machine is, well, OK. It is a per cup pod system, but my first go at it generated brown water. Second go was coffee, which was kind of OK. As a critique, it isn't very big....I would not call it a criticism of the hotel in general.

Breakfast service in the morning had a good selection of usual breakfast fare with cooked and cold selections. Well stocked, good quality juices and coffee. There is a made to order omelet station a little bit apart from the main breakfast room, don't miss it.

Right next to the main entrance is a great restaurant and bar with a large outdoor patio, reasonable prices and good food. What more can you ask for.

All in all a great place to stay, significantly cheaper than downtown yet with easy access.
I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: You really do want a river view.

An old hotel which hasn't been refurbished in ages with an interior which is in good condition but really not great style. The best thing is the great view over the bridge and Cincinnati as well as the comfortable beds. Rooms are large and have a small area for food (fridge, microwave but no cooker). The breakfast is really not worth getting up for ! Instead walk up the bridge into downtown (20 mins leasurelly walk) to one of the many restaurants there. The pool is small and in need of a refurb and the gym is tiny (three machines and no room to stretch or do floor exercises)

Room Tip: overlooking the river ! you will not regret it

Room was nice and looked like it had recently been redone - courtyard was very pretty and the view was to die for! Spend the few extra dollars and get a riverview room! We were on the 7th floor and got to see the bridges and the stadiums all lit up! All the staff were wonderful - room service was tasty, quick and hot. Don't miss the aquarium! Only a short drive away!

Room Tip: Get the 6th or 7th floor and get a riverview room!
