My family went here for a relaxing weekend getaway to see the moonbow. The place is somewhat dated and in need of repair especially considering it's $90ish a night price tag. The falls and pool are walking distance, but it is not a really short walk. The restaurant was OK, but the evening buffet for $18 seemed a bit high. It was kinda like a trip back in time when families went to a resort in the middle of no where and played checkers in the common room (that kinda reminded me of a nursing home) or shuffleboard up by the tennis courts. Both things that we actually did. They had a dance activity close by as well. They covered the bases with line dancing, square dancing, typical wedding reception type stuff. The women and girls sure liked it. Certainly not a jaw dropping experience overall, but it was nice and I would do it again.

Room Tip: There are cabins at the resort as well, we stayed in there for one night. More money(~$150), but 4...

Myself, husband, sister and brother-in-law stayed here the first of August and had a wonderful 2 night stay. Not sure how anyone could say this place was terrible. We felt it to be very quaint. While I admit it has an older feel about it you have to remember it WAS built in the 40's and we knew that and expected it to have the older more quaint feel unlike the Hilton. I mean, that's part of the charm of the place people. The view from the deck is wonderful and I loved the beautiful planters around the deck area...plus enjoyed watching the birds in the trees just off the deck.

The folks at the front desk were very welcoming and quick to answer any questions we had.

We ate breakfast both mornings we were there and while it is not a huge buffet, it had all the main selection to include fruit, cereal, eggs, bacon, saugage, potatoes, etc. The one night we ate dinner there we had a great selection to choose from to go along with the wonderful view from our table. The second night we drove to town (about 25 minutes away) because we specifically wanted barbecue for dinner, not anything to do with the lodge dining.

We were there during the Moonbow time and were fortunate enough to get to see it so that just added to our entire experience.

We would go back in a minute!

We just stayed two nights in a one bedroom rustic cabin. The setting was beautiful. However, the inside of the cabin could have used some TLC. The furniture and carpet looked very dirty. Thankfully there were extra sheets for the beds, so we covered the furniture with those before sitting on it. The mattresses however looked new and were comfortable. It was also nice to have a kitchen. We fixed all our meals there so we didn't have to eat at the Lodge. We've never had good experience with Lodge food. All overpriced and food is just mediocre. Would suggest stopping at the grocery on your way in because you're looking at close to an hour if you have to make a trip out.

We would stay here again. Hiked to Eagle falls and was able to see the moonbow. Great trip overall!

Dupont Lodge is the best place to stay when visiting Cumberland Park.

The views from the lodge is excellent and the staff is warm. Excellent restaurant with beautiful view of the river, serving Kentucky specials at a very affordable price.

The only reason I gave it 5 was due to the surroundings and the warmth of the place. The property itself is old but there is a certain warmth to it. Rooms are old and worn and carpets look old and dirty. The main foyer area is made of solid wood with olden days furniture. Together with the forest surrounding it, it somehow has a nice feel. There are huge balconies overlooking the forest, a great place to while away the time. The restaurant is nice and they always have buffet and menu all day long. People are friendly southernly style. This place is not fancy inside in terms of upkeep but what it lacks in this area, it more than makes up for it in the surroundings. This sits right in the middle of the national forest. The front of the property is nice with huge trees and lawn, another nice place to while away the time. There are a few short trails starting from here. There are horse riding, camping within walking distance. One of the trails leads to the Falls. The room I was in had a view of the forest as far as I could see. All in all, I had a nice stay. I am a simple and highly adjustable person and don't need much, so it was just fine for me. But if you are a fancy person and like everything neat and clean and proper and upscale then you may not like this place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view. If available, you will get one where you can see the forest all around.

The Cumberland Falls and the surrounding woodlands are beautiful and well worth a visit but the lodge restaurant is not good. The food was average and the whole place was grubby and run down and had a rather unpleasant smell but what really spoiled it for us was that despite the place being near empty we were told that we could not have a table by the window (the views are stunning) as they are for 4 people (they were not laid up) and we were 5 people. We said we were happy squashing up or could we push 2 tables together but the woman said no and was most unhelpful. I couldn't believe it - I thought US prided itself on customer service! Instead of it being an enjoyable meal out it felt like a challenge to get through as quickly as possible.

My husband and I just spent the weekend in the lodge, and were very disappointed. Our room was tiny, and did not have the queen-size bed that was advertised. The photos they post on their website are entirely misleading. The entire lodge is dirty and run down, and the staff is unprofessional. The dining hall is overpriced and the food was terrible. We were nearly sick from eating it for only 2 days. The falls and trails are great, but we will never stay there again.
