Dark rooms, very little maid service and not equipped for handicap at all. Beautiful view of lake but that is all the good I can say. State of KY needs to do something about the handicap situation. Parking is terrible.

Room Tip: wifi is available but really bad service

Stayed 3 nights and wasn't disappointed. It's simple and basic, but the views are gorgeous and the atmosphere is peaceful. The staff is friendly. Martha at the restaurant and Rhonda at the lounge were outstanding. It's an old structure on a lake, so it needs constant TLC. The outside of the lodge could use a good power wash, but it would likely need this constantly due to its location in the woods and by the lake. It is undergoing a two year renovation and we definitely see improvements from our stay a year ago. It's simple, and it's location is simply beautiful. We will be back.

We wanted to see the Elk and Bison Prairie on our way from Florida to Illinois and spent one night here. The lodge is solid, old and comfortable. We liked the balcony overlooking Lake Barkley, and the beds were comfortable. The on-site restaurant was excellent, and we tried both the buffet and ordering from menu, with delicious food on both options. Staff was friendly, and we loved the beautiful setting. All rooms appear to have a private view of the Lake. There was a large outdoor pool, but it was raining so we did not check that out.

This is an incredibly peaceful place.

The resort would be a complicated property to navigate if you aren't able to climb stairs, which is the reason for the four-star rating.

It has been a very long time since visiting and staying at Lake Barkley Lodge. I must admit, there isn't much good, (about the lodge), I can say about my stay! Of course, the lake and natural beauty are overwhelming but the lodge is run down and in a state of much need! The entire lodge was old and run down, the room was difficult to find (at night it felt savory while searching), the key didn't work and had to go back to check-in, the carpet was dirty however the bed was clean, the tv and internet were good, but the gas heater ran all night, (made noise even after it was turned off). Kentucky needs to make some serious remodeling and up-dating on this property!

Room Tip: All rooms I saw have a good lake view!

I attend a conference here every year. Such a rustic and tranquil place. My family comes with and they enjoy all the activities offered. I, on the other hand, am busy with training for two days. I do enjoy the relaxing setting in the evening.

The lake is beautiful and the setting serene. The Lodge is as expected for a state park. The room was clean, nice linens, sheltered balcony with lake view, and a nice TV. The room is all wood, including the peaked ceiling, making it quite dark, even with all the lights on. The marina is very nice, if you are boating. Staff was very helpful. So why only 3 stars? The facility is sorely in need of maintenance. The shoreline was littered with trash. When we arrived, the trash receptacles on the shoreline were overflowing, with trash scattered on the grounds. No one touched it for 3 days. The restaurant food was fine. Home-cooking style. The service was a bit lacking. At breakfast one morning, the server pushed the bus cart 2 feet from us, them proceeded to scrape plates and noisily stack them, while we were eating. Yuck. It felt like we were having breakfast in the kitchen with the dishwasher. They also boast a "full bar". However, if you order a glass of wine, before your meal, you probably won't see it until after your meal. It looks like the alcohol is locked up and the person with the key is hard to find? So, enjoy the lake and keep your expectations in check for everything else.

We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend here. The hotel was full, but it was so peaceful and relaxing. Loved the wood in the rooms and dining room. The bathroom looked new, the beds were comfortable, and the balcony was very private. The views of the lake were amazing. We also enjoyed the convenience of the on site restaurant. They also had many activities going on and left a schedule in your room to keep you informed. Cell service is poor, but I consider that a plus, nice to disconnect for the weekend. Everyone on staff was friendly and polite. Would recommend to anyone seeking quiet, family oriented accommodations.
