When staying at the lodge, this is a good place for breakfast. Reasonable prices and good country ham or pancakes. The weekend buffet is not as good as some of the other state parks and is a little pricey. We will usually drive back into Cadiz for an evening meal.
The dining room is nice with a great view of the lake.

If you are staying at the Lodge at Lake Barkely, there is literally no other food within at least 15 miles. The restaurant is not bad for a state park. The prices are quite affordable -- I had a T-bone steak dinner with potato, vegetable, soup/salad bar and dessert bar for 13.99, you can't go wrong! They also have beer and wine now which allows for an enjoyable evening sitting and looking out the windows at the lake or going out on the large paito overlooking the pool and lake. Service is friendly, bu not what you would expect in a top flight restaurant in the city. All in all, the food is more than passable and the price adn setting are definite high points.

Thank tewks

We had reservations for 35 people for lunch last week, and drove 90 miles, one way, to dine here, and enjoy the area. I made reservations about a month in advance, and was repeatedly assured that there would be a buffet. We got seated and started to order and was told there was no buffet, should have left, but didn't, big mistake. Things went downhill from there. Some ordered shrimp platter, and got shrimp, nothing else, who wants to eat just shrimp? Some didn't get menus. One lady didn't get her meal until the rest were starting to leave, she put it in a to-go box and through it in garbage when she got home, and yes she had to pay for it. The food was awful. To many other
bad experiences to list. Wouldn't advise anyone to waste their time or money to go there.

Saturday night we had a reservation for 35 in the dining room at 7pm. We showed up 10 mins early they had given our reservation away to a larger group that had come off the water. They said it was their policy that people coming off the water had priority. Not mind you we have had these reservations for 3 mths. When we showed up we had to wait 20 mins for them to seat us. That sat us with the same waitress that already had the large table. In addtion to that they sat several other individual tables in our waitresses area. After 10 mins of no one to take our drink order we finally flagged down a waitress and got her attention. She said sorry, i now have 90+ people in my section and only meet over here. 30 mins later we got our drinks! The buffet closes at 9pm. We got to the buffet and no plates or food! We waited another 10 mins for new food to come out - finally some. Everyone is out of drinks at this point - no refills. We had to go to the kitchen and ask. Then we recieve the bill at 8:30 - $15 a person! Seriously! I told the cashier I was not paying 15 a person for the service and food we recieved. She took 20% off the bill and asked if we would speak to the OPS Manager tomorrow and tell them how our experience was. That the staff is over worked and frustated because they have had funding cut so badly.
I can tell you no one from my family will be back to Lake Barkley!
