On the walking tour of the grounds above the caves they have a Butterfly greenhouse.. It's a little hike but, well worth the walk. So beautiful and relaxing. The butterflies will come and land on you and it is amazing .. My grandsons loved the trip....

It was all just a little hokey. Mammoth Cave is a mere 40 minutes away and much more worth your time and money. I would recommend this ONLY for the elderly or disabled who cannot physically handle a Mammoth Cave experience. You are only in the boat a few minutes and it goes in the cave a very short distance, then back out the same way. The gift shop was good.

Thanks for voicing your concerns. We love Mammoth Cave National Park too!
Lost River Cave strives to give a unique tour experience to visitors traveling through Cave Country. Our Cave Boat Tour is designed to be a relaxing but fun experience for the entire family and people of all ages. Unlike many other cave tours, our tour is a two part tour, the first 15 minutes or so with your guide along the river is steep in history and humor about the Lost River Valley. The remainder of the 45min tour is spent in the cave on the boat and is an experience unavailable anywhere else in Kentucky and is available in very few places in the world. We are sorry you found your personal experience lacking. We encourage you to give our Director, Rho Lasnden, a call at 270.393.0077 or email her at rho@lostrivercave.com to discuss your thoughts and feelings.

I met my daughters newinlaws who live in Bowling Green, KY at the Lost River Cave. It was a very unique experience. There was so much more to do than just tour the cave. Great place to take our two little dogs too. There is a dog park just a short walk away and the girls really loved it. The gift shop was amazing and yhe people so helpful and friendly.

If you go expecting a brightly lit cave with a big boat floating on beautiful lit water, you won't find it. Only way I could get any pictures is with the flash cranked up on my DSLR then more work done on them later. It is dim in the cave. Low clearance on the way in means you bend over as low as you can to avoid hitting your head. It doesn't go too far in then you turn around and go back. I'm not saying don't go, just know what you are getting into. Like another review, best part of our tour was our guide Steven. He was well informed about the area and very excited to be telling us.
