“Historic...”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

We stayed in this Old Hotel one night on the way thru Ky. I loved the "old feel" of this place, Obviously steeped in history, and well maintained, our room was small, but clean and just being able to stay in such an historic hotel was great. Run by local students. We did not eat here, so I can't comment on the food, but I would recommend it to anyone traveling thru the area looking for a change from the Interstate hotels.

Room Tip: There aren't that many rooms.... ours faced the parking lot in the rear

Perfectly stated: "A change from interstate hotels." We like to think of ourselves often as a big house. Thank you for your great response and please stop by and see us soon. We have a great package this month (March). If you book with our website you get free breakfast.

I love this old hotel. It is s treasure. From the friendly and hardworking server, Leah, to the museum of famous persons who have passed this way, everything about the Boone Tavern is fine and romantic and pleasing.

The restaurant is one of the only three restaurants in Kentucky where you can get authentic Traditional Kentucky fare. Their restaurant was the refuge of a famous inventive chef that Duncan Hines popularized. Many of his genius recipes are still on the menu. Who would think all this is on I-75 in a rural Kentucky area. Nearby you can see an Amish farrier shoe horses for locals near Crab Orchard. One can see the remarkable wild west town Hoot n Holler at McKee KY. Take in a hike to the Berea Pinnacles. One can take a romantic drive though Climax KY.

You can even take a beautiful trail ride on horseback at Deer Run Stable near Clays Ferry KY. This Boone Tavern is a secret jewel hidden right in front of us. SMC

On our drive down to Florida we came across this charming town and pretty hotel. It was very comfortable and has a good dining room. Dinner was very good although service could have been more efficient. I get that it's students that work in the hotel/dining room but they should be trained better. All in all worth the stop.

We greatly appreciate your review. I am glad to hear that you stopped with us on your way to Florida. We hope to become your regular place to stay. I apologize that your service was not as good as it should have been. Some of the students that work with us have never been employed before so we work closely with them to help them develop skills they need. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to seeing you soon.

What a charming place. A nice renovation which very simply yet classy rooms. We had the suite as it was not much more and based on the previous reviews, the space was needed. Friendly staff. Lovely small town. Forewarning, there is no alcohol served at the restuarant. You need to bring your own.

We had one of the full rooms. The bed was so comfortable, the staff was outstanding and the overall feel of this hotel was just what I expected. It had a historical but updated feel, a lot of KY charm, and I would definitely return.

We stayed here one night on the way from Detroit to Florida. This is a welcome change from the usual chain hotel. Nicely preserved old place. Very courteous staff. We also ate in the restaurant, and that was good, too.

From the crown moldings to the bolster pillows and in-room Keurig, our stay was so comfortable. It was a passing through sort of stay, but, as I told the manager, they will see us again. Our bathroom was large with a jetted tub/shower combo and a beautiful pedestal sink. The hotel is very green and shower products are provided in dispensers instead of all of those little bottles. Even the sitting area chairs were comfortable! There was a nice-sized closet and although it was closed when we went to bed it was open in the morning. Evidence of a ghost? In a place that old, I can certainly see how there could have been!
