It's tough to express how much I admire and respect this college, these students and their gorgeous crafts. I'd heard about Berea crafts for years and they exceeded my expectations. I purchased a woven square and a weed pot - almost impossible to decide. The students were so personable and knowledgeable. I wish I'd gotten all of their names but remember the name Jarod Cox- this young jewelry designer has a bright future. Thank you all for maintaining the traditional arts/crafts in such a loving and committed way.

I have worked with college students for over twenty years, and I have to say that the young people that I met in the Student Crafts gallery impressed me as much as any group I've met in a long time. The greeter was very professional, and was able to answer my questions and explain about Berea College's work program in great detail. There were a number of lovely items in the shop, all student-made, of course, and I purchased a pair of beautiful copper earrings as a gift for a friend. I also loved the handwoven baby blankets and the luxurious throws (I ended up buyin on of those, too, in a gorgeous scarlet color). If I go back, I plan to enlarge my Berea collection with a handmade footstool and a broom or two! I reviewed the log house also, and I'll say the same thing about this place that I said about the crafts sold there--it makes me happy to support a place that is preserving traditional skills and supporting deserving students at the same time. These students graduate with academic skill, practical skill, (whether that's a craft or some other kind of manual labor) and the kind of poise and ability to articulate their ideas that I a certain will serve them well after they graduate. High quality crafts supporting a high-quality education. I can really support that!
