“Good except one major flaw”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. Friendly staff, great location, great breakfast etc. Their bedding consists of a blanket between two sheets on top of the bed. Which is fine, except for the blanket had hair all over it. Short black ones, long ones, etc. I understand the material must just be very catching, but it was pretty gross and making sure the bedding is clean should be a priority. The whole room just seemed a little dingy, but I probably wouldn't have been bothered too much if it weren't for the blanket.

Last Christmas we stayed here while visiting family. It was a "no brainer" this year when it was time to choose a hotel. But I feel let down. It seems like they've not done a thing to this place in the past year except change the sheets.

Our room was grubby, with a collection of hair on the bathroom floor, a water stain from the ceiling, and furniture that's seriously outdated. Last year there must not have been anyone near us, so noise wasn't a problem. This time, noise abounds... from the street, passers-by, kids next door, car doors slamming, etc. We both woke up with horrible headaches... don't know if it's allergy-related because of the dust and dinginess of the room? Maybe it's the space under the door allowing the outside cigarette smoke to drift in.

Upon our arrival, we were told the office would be closed at 3:00 PM Christmas Eve and would not reopen until 7AM on the 26th. No breakfast either. (Which I wouldn't be too bothered by, except there was no mention of this during the reservation. If Best Western always includes breakfast, I expect it. Finding breakfast on Christmas morning would've meant hunting for a gas station.) In fairness, the front desk staff was cherry and pleasant.

So we're checking out early and paying more to stay at the Hampton Inn. Too bad.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the road, if possible.

Was very pleased with the Best Western in Bardstown, KY. The staff was very helpful. It was a very nice dog friendly place. Had a area you could walk your dogs and had pick up bags when the dog would poop.
The people who served breakfast were friendly and would out of their way to help you. The people at the desk were also very helpful. If you had a dog they gave us a package for our dog that had a pack of dog food and a bottle of water. I liked the way they told us about the dog rules. It was like they were talking to your pet. Very cute.
Great stay for all.

Room Tip: Alot of rooms were on ground floors.

Carpet was dirty, feet were dirty from the carpet. The toilet was loose at the floor. Shower head was very low, had to bend down to wash hair. Good location and staff. Breakfast was good. Close to Downtown.

Mark,

Thank you for your response. I do agree, the shower heads are low and we are looking into getting this matter fixed. With the carpet being dirty, this is from being an exterior entrance, walking from the parking lot and into a room, the carpet is the first place that gets hit. We do shampoo our carpets on a regualr rotating basis to keep this from happening. I apologize that this did happen and we will make every effort to get this taken care of.

The room itself was average but very clean. We stayed in the fall but one can tell that the pool in the back away from the road is a big draw in summer. The large meeting room and generous breakfast was unexpected.

After checking in, the front desk called and asked if we were satisfied with the room and accommodations. We chatted about what to do in their town and she gave us very good suggestions. Breakfast was a feast with several handpicked choices and a wonderful hostess.

Room was adequte but not very clean. The breakfast included is quite good and pleasant staff make you feel at home. Hotel is easy to find though not really in walking distance of much. It is a pet friendly establishment.
