“will go back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

Came down for 3 nights for bourbon trail over the 4th of July. Beds were very hard. Behind any piece of furniture it was dirty and had not seen a vacuum in quite a while. Bathroom corners were dirty and the tub began to have spots of mold. That is the bad and it did not take way from our trip.

Front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. Got a prank call at 3am in morning claiming to be the front desk, was having computer problems and wanted to verify my personal information over the phone. Did not share anything, told the caller I would come down to the desk only to find it was an attempted identity theft and not the front desk. This is no way was the fault of the hotel.

Hotel grounds and pool were spotless with employees very visible working and cleaning.

Morning breakfast was included and very good.

Even with some minor issues would come back to this hotel.

We also were there for KMW and found the motel fit the bill for our week long stay. The rooms were nicely maintained altlhough as noted in other reviews the age shows. My main complaint was the AC wall mounted unit - it cycled on and off nosily and the fan could not be left on to mask the street noise. A rear room would have been preferable. The breakfast was adequate and varied over the week and should you want more the Stephen Foster buffet restaurant next door is very good.

We stayed here during Kentucky Music Week. The motel was booked solid. Staff were friendly. Our room was fine, with a little space to store musical instruments and to sit and read. The hot water was iffy during peak morning time on the first day or two, but I think people learned to spread out their shower times (or maybe I got up earlier) because we had no problem after that. Breakfast was OK; there was a hot item (rotated daily) along with the usual stuff, and hard boiled eggs for those who needed protein but didn't want whatever the hot item was. Good coffee and they didn't run out, at least when I was there. Free wifi and a refrigerator in the room were welcome amenities. I think this is probably one of the better choices in Bardstown, and we would stay here again.

We came to Bardstown to visit some of the bourbon distilleries and chose this motel for our one night stay. The check-in was easy and the staff were very friendly. Our room was very clean and included a king bed, reclining rocker, refrigerator and microwave. The bath was small and there was a small sink area between the bathroom and bed area. The bed was comfortable but there were four king size pillows which were firmer than I like (I use a soft feather pillow at night). My husband found the pillows comfortable.

There were several grassy areas for people to walk their dogs as this is a pet friendly motel and several benches and chairs were set out for the patrons enjoyment. A small outdoor pool and lounge chairs were located between the main building and the Carriage house.

The next morning we went to the building in back (Carriage House) and had their continental breakfast. It consisted of cereals, juices, coffee, tea, breads, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and ham, and sliced fruit.

Usually you expect more from a Best Western hotel, but this was a big disappointment. We were on a 23 day trip, and this was the worst motel during the trip. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the maintenance was minimal at best, especially in the bathroom. The air conditioner roared on and off all night. The bathroom shower curtain was really old and bearly hanging on. The breakfast was nothing special.

I am sorry that your stay with us was not up to your standards. We are an older property and are going through and renavating our guest room. We have replaced all rooms with new carpet, put in a micro/fridge in each room, new bed frames and new linens for all the rooms. We are still in the process of making upgrades to each room.

Best Western usually offers a comfy bed which is our MOST important need. We extended our stay 2 days to continue exploring Bardstown after our 3 day projects at 2 distilleries nearby. Room had micro & frig, but we ate at the Stephen Foster buffet restaurant next door a couple times. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast.

The horse drawn carriage clip-clops thru the parking lot at dusk most days. Many historic sights are within a 5 minute drive so the BW General Nelson is a perfect location for exploring this wonderful town.

There is a pool, patio table & chairs outside each room and 2 nice garden areas for enjoying the weather outside. Parking for large vehicles is a bit tight, so stay out front if you have a long vehicle. Each room has parking in front of the door. There are only 2 floors and no elevators. We had maid service daily even tho we were there for a week. We would GLADLY return again. What a great town Bardstown is ...

Room Tip: Ground floor off the street will be quietest and most private

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel, and we just love it. Nothing fancy, but it has a nice pool, and wonderful breakfast. Plus if you are a smoker, they have a gazebo, and tables right out front in the hotel that creates wonderful places for you to sit have a smoke and enjoy time with travel companions. Going back in July for a girls trip and will def. stay there.
