“Old Talbott Tavern”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

The food was good but a little overpriced. Guess it's to be expected at a tourist destination. Some of the furnishings are 100 years old and they fit the restaurant but could stand some refinishing. The bar was just a sports bar and when the band started playing our group of fiftysomethings left because the music was WAY too loud.

“Pricey and loud”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Just plain over-rated. No acoustics at all. We had to speak to each other so loudly it was uncomfortable. Privacy at the tables is non-existent.

“Relaxing on the Bourbon Trail”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We had dinner here two nights in a row, in the bourbon bar. Other reviewers have mentioned that it's crowded on weekends, but mid-week we found it a very enjoyable place to relax.

Food was good and reasonably priced. Angela, the bartender, was extremely personable, and gave us very good service. She was also quite knowledgeable about bourbon, and helped us make good selections for a tasting flight. The only disappointment was that the bourbon for the flight came in shot glasses, instead of snifters or nosing glasses.

If we're ever in Bardstown again, I'm sure we'll be back at the Old Talbott.

“Loved the old building”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

Loved the historic building and the food was very good but survice was less than expected. When we got there there was no hostess at the station and there were about three groups of people waiting before us so there hadn't been one there for a while. She finally came out and was very unprofessional both in appearance and attitude. She said you want to eat, the dining rooms full you'll have to wait; she finally took peoples names after all assured her that they were willinng to wait. The wait was not long and the food came out fairly quickly. My wife ordered homemade chili plus a hot brown and as the girl brought out another patrons chili she said that that was the last bowl and asked if we wanted instread. We refused anything else and then the lady at the next table told the watress that the last bowl of chili that she had just gotten was cold. The to it back as said that the microwave hadn't been working right.

“Disappointing meal in a historic place.”
Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

Had to wait 45 minutes for a table without a reservation on a Saturday night. Waited in the bar. Busy and difficult to get service in the bar. Good drinks and nice bartender. Waiter was in a hurry to serve us when seated. What happened to Southern slowness? Ordered an appetizer and a recommended dinner favorite of ham. Food cam e quickly. No appetizer until reminded server. Received appetizer with dinner. The appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes was good. The rest of the meal was a disappointment! Canned green beans with instant mashed potatoes and a curled up slice of ham. Wish we had gone elsewhere.
