The outdoor village section was really the only interesting part of the entire Civil War museum. We got the full pass, which includes admission to the outdoor village and all 4 museums. Our 6 year old son thoroughly enjoyed exploring "olden days" life in the village. My husband and I found the village to be a neat experience, with good photo opportunities. The Women's Civil War museum was pretty neat, but somewhat scary for our son. It is housed in an original pioneer home, with a couple creepy-looking dolls and creaking staircase.

Impressed with the amount of items on display. Agree that the museum could use more information about the artifacts themselves. Had a coupon from our hotel for $1 off, so only cost $5. Can't beat it!

This is a very interesting place if you like civil war memorabilia. The museum has tons of artifacts, and the little village with the log cabins is so fun to walk though. They recreate many aspects of colonial life.

I wholeheartedly agree with Heather B’s assessment “Has so much potential not being realized”. My wife and I thought it wasn’t currently worth the money ($6) but it COULD be a fantastic museum with a little more work. The museum is a lot larger than it looks outside and has TONS of great relics and era pieces but there needs to be more signage. There are plenty of signs telling the Civil War history (Generals, battles, troop movement, etc) but they rarely explain what is being displayed in each display cabinet. Many of the displays are stuffed full of uniforms, handcuffs, pipes, knifes, guns, and other miscellaneous trinkets that are never explained. What is that trinket and was it found on a battlefield? Where? What type of soldier wore a particular uniform and why? Is it a reproduction or a real uniform? Did someone important wear it? What’s the deal with the full taxidermy horse? There is one cabinet with a colorful uniform/vest with a Shriner-looking hat and NO explanation. WTH?

I was surprised by the amount of artifacts. All of the cabinets are professionally laid out but are useless without explanations.

A very well put together museum of artifacts. The tour is about two hours, well worth the time.
