Wow what a treat. I stopped by after the reviews here and was treated to a beautiful delicious lunch. On the square so you can people watch. The weather was perfect for sitting outside.
Lovely older building well furnished. Nicely done bravo!

“Cool Setting-Innovative and Tasty Fare”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

The Setting in this Historic Old Home was warm with a nice dose of friendly and accommodating service! Always a good sign to see a small "Chef's garden"of fresh herbs as you enter; although at first, it might appear the menu is a bit unusual with that chef "trying hard to impress" limited menu feel..but not here!
The Chef delivered a very tasty, recognizable approachable meal with flair and lots of flavor! It was nice to hear similar comments from some of the other dinner patrons as well.
If you happen to be in Bardstown, and consider yourself a "foody", Don't miss Circa!

“A beautiful experience in an unexpected locale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

We found Circa through TripAdvisor and decided to try it. The menu was unique with very creative and interesting items without being weird. The food was superb. The chef's wife was our server and provided excellent guidance. The ambience of a restored 1790 home, quiet and elegant. All for a price that was better than what we would have paid in any big city. We highly recommend it.

“Great European-Inspired Cuisine in Bardstown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

We were so impressed with Circa we visited the restaurant a second time.

On our first visit I gravitated to the classic French menu options while my better half took advantage of the lamb pot pie (which I also tasted, it was delicious). My duck breast roulade was a tasty work of visual art, but most importantly it was cooked a perfect medium-rare.

The second visit we both had the coq au vin. The sauce was savoury and rich, and was by far the better of the two fine dishes I enjoyed.

The staff were great. The friendliness of the Kentucky people is clearly present here.

“Amazing little restaurant in Bardstown, Kentucky!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

We heard about Circa from the driver of the horse-drawn carriage we took around Bardstown and we're so glad he mentioned it. We ended up eating there both nights we were in town and the food was outstanding both times. It's right by the traffic circle behind the Visitor Centre in a beautiful old house. The first night was lamb pot pie and duck wrapped in applewood smoked bacon with pesto inside (duck breast roulade). The second night was coq au vin, which was sublime. The owners of Circa are really wonderful people and they let us go through the kitchen when we ended up at the wrong door on the first night. We were lucky that it wasn't too busy because we didn't have reservations, which I would recommend to make sure you can get in. It was all very casual but the food is five-star and really reasonably priced! Even the little rosemary-infused buns they serve for the bread basket are incredible! For anyone in Bardstown who loves great food, Circa is a must!
