It is in a small historical house in the middle of downtown Bardstown. Bourbon tasting with the Colonel was excellent. He is very knowledgable about local bourbons and makes an amazing mint julep, worth the price! Dinner was casual but classy. Very good southern meal, very filling, save room for the ice cream, strawberry shortcake with bourbon sauce. The Col. And Margaret Sue are were wonderful hosts.

The Colonel and staff are the most gracious of hosts. Even if you don't like bourbon, you must have one of Rosemary's famous mint juleps. It was a great night. The Colonel takes his time explaining all the nuances of the many different bourbon flights that they offer. From novice to expert, he is sure to have a flight that tickles your fancy. He even let us taste a few that we were not familiar with. The food was delicious. Be sure to come with a big appetite! The potato salad and string beans were highlights, as was the dessert, of course there is coffee with a little bourbon "hair of the dog" as well. The Colonel ends the evening by lowering the lights and telling stories of the friendly spirits that inhabit his Chapeze house. Fun night!

My husband and I weren't sure what to expect when we made our reservations at The Chapeze House. We saw the great rating by other Trip Advisor users. Our experience was outstanding! I can't even tell you how good the food was. We started off with a bourbon tasting then the food startes. Our homemade dinner consisted of a yummy sweet and sour slaw, the biggest pork chop I've ever been served in a resturaunt, the best green beans I've ever had, fresh corn on the cob sprinkled with fresh grown Thyme, yep not finished yet... Homemade potatoe salad and corn bread made in a cast iron skillet. Needless to say we had a doggie bag. Dinner was finished off with a strawberry shortcake with homemade bourbon sauce. The owners were so welcoming and made us feel like family. If you visit Bardstown you MUST visit The Chapeze House.

Chapeze house is a unique dining and drinking experience! We arrived thirty minutes early to make sure of the location and the Colonel took us in to give us a respite from the heat. From the first moment the Colonel, server Rose Mary, and chef Margaret Sue fulfilled the expectations of southern hospitality. We were treated to an in-depth review of the tasting menu, a outstanding meal, and stories woven throughout. This was a memorable event for our family and closed out an awesome day on the bourbon trail. You will spend a few more bucks than normal, but it is worth every penny. Go here!

The Chapeze House is a beautiful historic house that was perfect for our wedding rehearsal dinner. There were a total of 30 attendees that fit right into one room for dinner. I think any more than 30 attendees would require two different rooms being used. The main foyer and garden out back was a great size for that amount of people to mingle, chat and to have a few drinks before dinner. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Near the end of the dinner, the weather outside turned into thunderstorms. It worked out great since the Colonel pulled up a chair, dimmed the lights and told stories of the spirits of the Chapeze House. It’s that personal touch that made our wedding rehearsal dinner like no other we have been a part of. My wife and I highly recommend couples getting married in Bardstown to have their wedding rehearsal dinner at the Chapeze House.
