My family of seven stayed here just before Christmas for two nights. The hosts are warm and the building a genuine log cabin. Breakfasts are good. Sleep was just ok - two bedrooms are on the front and get road noise from the local highway, another is near the center of the house and got overly hot as the heating is still through the central fireplace, and the "loft" was a children's bed above the kitchen. So this is a genuine and authentic experience, and you just need to know it before you go. It makes for good family stories.

I stayed a week with Joanne and "bucky" at her beautiful old home. The moment I walked in the door I felt at home. The house is full of wonderful antiques and primitives. The breakfast were a real treat with a different taste each morning. Joanne is a wonderful hostess and made my holiday that much more special. I will return and stay here again, in fact I cant wait!! ps the ghosts really are friendly! Dawn Barr Meaford, Ontario

This was a happy ending to a bad experience with a motel-chain reservation gone awry.

Greeted warmly by innkeeper, Joanne & her friend, Cheryl, we had a restful, interesting stay at this Bed & Breakfast. We were in Bardstown as vendors, www.chocolate-candy.com, to sell our Ky Bourbon Chocolates @ the annual Bourbon Festival. The Best Western had "lost" our yearly reservations because it had been sold during past year. The Bourbon Festival/Tourist Commission helped us locate the Homestead Bed & Breakfast.

We were in awe of the loving rebuild/restoration of the 1700s log home & the meticulous attention to the historical research of the slaves who had lived there...gone but NOT forgotten by Joanne! Between Joanne's German Feather Trees, the work of other Ky Folk Artists & antiques, we could have spent days browsing in the home & shop!

We had the upstairs Loft for accommodations with access to the downstairs full-bath that contained the largest tub I had ever seen (no shower). The breakfast was delicious & ample. The coffee kept coming. This was a genuine delight!
