This is an older cool Hotel. Breakfast was good, rooms were good, staff was as expected. The pool area has a jungle theme which adds to its coolness.
The beds seemed too soft or maybe just wore out which gave me poor sleep. I took notice that this Hotels 1st floor elevator lobby smoke detector was activated (denoted by the constantly lit red LED indicator light). Since the fire alarm was not going off and the elevator was not in fire alarm recall mode, I can only surmise that management had disabled the fire alarm system. I have contact the local Fire Marshals Office to look into their fire alarm system status.

Thank you for your review, I am glad your stay was pleasant. I apologize that you did not sleep well; when you’re away from home I know getting a good sleep is very important. Thank you for taking note about the smoke detector, we actually had someone do a full inspection on our alarm system to make sure everything was functioning properly. Thank you for you stay with us.

As a family, we make a 2,500 mile round-trip from Missouri to South Texas twice per year for mission work in Mexico. Naturally, that includes several nights in multiple hotels each trip. Our experience at the Wichita La Quinta was easily the best hotel experience we have had as a family in the last several years. We had 2 ground floor rooms which opened up pool side. The pool was big and surrounded by a lush tropical jungle of greenery. Our rooms were very nice & clean with plenty of space. The AC worked very well. It was 100F during the day and we all got cold during the night and had to ajust our temp up. We thoroughly enjoyed the expanded breakfast from the beautiful and quite large 6th floor breakfast room. The staff was excellent. The location appeared to be a safe neighborhood with a mall just down the street. I just can't say enough positive about this hotel. We don't normally stop in Wichita but have decided to adjust our future travel schedule in order to make certain we get 1 night in Wichita.

We were in a room on the ground floor with our dog. There was a meeting room on one side of us so we did not have to worry about loud noises at night. The breakfast was very good. We had a room by the pool and could go through the pool area to get to the outside to walk our dog. There was handicapped parking that was easy to access.

One of the worst hotel experiences of my entire life. The bed is extremely uncomfortable, the internet is laughably slow, and the staff is either uncaring, or nonexistent. The rooms are disgusting and foul-smelling. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

The room A/Cs on 3 rd floor are extremely loud and woke us up several times in the night!! New units are badly needed so travelers can sleep. The staff was professional and helpful, and the hotel was nice and clean.

This is the type of hotel that you're happy to leave in the morning. The hotel was quite busy at check-in but the desk clerk was friendly and efficient. The location was good, right off the interstate . The room was average sized but the double beds were just that. The bathroom was very small and worn looking however great water pressure in the shower. The decor was dated but pleasant. The air conditioning unit in our room was efficient at cooling but extremely noisy. Every time it cycled on we were awoken. Our room was situated near the front desk on the main floor and had quite a large gap between the bottom of the door and floor. This may have been the cause of the two small insects we encountered and killed. Our room faced the pool/ hot tub area which was large with a tropical theme and was quite pretty. Traveling with two dogs we were happy to find a pet friendly option. The designated dog area was inconveniently located at the rear of the hotel. It consisted of one small patch of dead grass in the middle of a parking lot. Using this area proved to be a little scary as their was no evidence of hotel security. Sharing the property was a Days Inn, which looked to be an equivalent choice. A positive feature of our hotel was the breakfast room. It was located at the top of the hotel on the sixth floor. It was a lovely large room with plenty of seating and a nice view. The breakfast however, was below average and the selection of "fresh" fruit consisted of tired looking apples and oranges. For people trying to make healthy choices skip this and head to the Panera located a quick drive away.

I’m sorry to hear that your experience was not so positive. I have several guests that had mention that the pet area seems too small so we will be changing our pet area pretty soon. We do have a security that works 10pm – 6am shifts but has 2 days off and we also have cameras in the back. We will also be remodeling the hotel pretty soon so hopefully that will be a positive impact to the hotel. Thank you for your comments and we will work hard to better our hotel.

Booked a night at this hotel for the family on the 4th of July. The staff were very helpful in giving us rooms that would help to see the fireworks - 5th floor - facing Wichita Country Club. They were huge and seemed to come from across the street! When you check in there are cookies available and coffee. The indoor pool was sparkling and the tropical atmosphere and waterfall very pleasant. They offer a full complimentary breakfast on the 6th floor with a beautiful view. The beds and pillows were also very comfortable. There are several restaurants across the street by the mall - Longhorn, Old Chicago, Red Lobster, Mediterranean Griill, Logan's, and our favorite, BJ's. What a great experience and quality for the money!
