Hi me and my wife a frequent user of this pool, after all the recent upgrades, pool on deep end still has the constant reek of rancid grease from pool area fryer and 2 cheap noisy barn fans from princess auto,a small amount of investment on ventilation would make the use of pool a much more enjoyable experience.understandably it takes time to repair decades of neglect but these are 2 easy fix problems that need to be changed soon so this resort can look like something other then a sad neglected old resort.

Thank you for your comments, and I am happy to say that there has been a new Stainless Steel Rangehood and Fan installed in our pool side cafe kitchen, that will correct the issue of the deep fryer smell migrating into the swimming area.

As for the pool ventilation system upgrading, we have been working on designing a better system but it is not a simple fix. We will be installing one as soon as we can source out a proper system that will withstand the highly corrosive environment out in the pool area (ie. all of the minerals and salt in the air due to the constant pool evaporation).

I stayed at this resort while on vacation. I had stayed here about 5 months ago and enjoyed myself, so I decided to do it again. This time I booked a room with a view of Manitou Lake. The view was great and worth the money. As well, with this room you received satellite TV with multiple channels, though I didn't use it that much seeing as I was looking to relax. The room itself was okay, though it could have used some TLC in a few places. The door frame in the bathroom was separating from the wall, some of the walls had splatter on them and could use a washing, the exterior windows need to be washed since they were dirty, and they could do a better job of arranging the electrical system since everytime I went to lay on the bed it hit the plug for the lamp and caused it to flicker. The bed was okay but not as comfortable as my other room the last time I stayed. The wireless internet was good and had good speed and reception. The spa was excellent and very relaxing. Since the last time I was here they must have installed a better filtration system since the water was clear instead of golden (though I didn't mind it then). The Water Crest Cafe was excellent - the food tasted great and was reasonably priced. I had supper there again as it was good the last time as well. The free breakfast in the morning was okay. Small portions but it was free. All in all, I had a very relaxing stay. Since it is in the middle of nowhere Saskatchewan, be prepared to relax and be isolated. I would recommend this place for those looking to get away from the city to relax.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms offer a nice scene of Manitou Lake, as well as full satellite TV.The basic rooms are...

My boyfriend and i stayed on the May long weekend for 1 night in the Jacuzzi Suite. We had a great time in the room and at the pool.
Since our stay was very enjoyable and relaxing, he booked the same room for our anniversary on the August long weekend. We booked for Saturday and Sunday nights. Our room was ready for us to check in when we arrived at 1:30pm. Everything was great on Saturday, but Saturday night, the people above us sounded like elephants all night stomping around. On Sunday we put the sign on the door for maid service and were in and out of the room from 10am-4pm. We had to ask the cleaning staff twice to make up our room, and then had to call to the front desk at 4:00 because nobody had come to do it yet.
Mini golf was amazing, we had so much fun. Since we got in before noon, he offered us a free game in the afternoon. So we played 18 holes twice for the price of 1.
The burger shop down by the beach has really good burgers!!!
The 2 Chinese places (Tom's and Peachwood) in town at Watrous have the best buffet, I have been to in a small town. They offer all the basics of Chinese cuisine and it is GREAT!
Sunday night across the street at the bar they were having a rock concert. It was very loud until at least 3am and the guests of the hotel were not pre-warned that there would be such an event. We came to relax and have a quiet romantic weekend, but the quiet part did not happen. For the amount we paid to stay there $400 for 2 nights, we expected better service. And when we checked out on Monday, we paid cash, and told them our concerns and nothing was said to us, no apologies, they just stared at their computers and watched us in confusion as we counted out the $400 cash. Then when we walked out, no one said anything to us, no thanks for staying, sorry for the inconvenience, have a nice day...NOTHING! Walked to the car in the hotel parking lot and a huge pile of puke was beside it from the bar folk partying last night at the rock concert...great!
It's just so disappointing because my boyfriend used to work for the manager, the housekeepers know who he is and we were not impressed with the lack of service this time around. We want to go back, but there better be some incentives next time.

I thank you for your comments, and based on the noise that was created from the neighbouring bar across the street that evening, you should be as upset as you are. I apologize for not being aware that a live band would be playing outside, and across the street at the Beach Bar that evening. If i would have known thier plans, I would not have allowed it. Please understand that your concerns were heard, and we appreciate your patronage, and I will be contacting the village council to make sure this never happens again.

Dropped our child off at Camp Easter Seal located at Manitou Beach and booked a room online to spend the night.

One the good side - we spent some time down at the beach and arrived at the hotel at 1:30 to see if we could check in. Even though it was before the check-in time, the desk clerk accomodated our early arrival and we were given a room. Bed was comfortable. You recieve a coupon for a free hot breakfast and a coupon to allow you unlimited access to the pool during your stay. Check out was also very easy - just dropping the keys in the box by the back door.

The negative - we entered through the back enterance and were hit with an overpowering bad smell. A maintence man appeared to be cleaning the floor. Unfortunately, that smell carried through the hotel to our room. The doors were propped open and eventually the smell disapaited. The room was a bit of a disappointment in terms of noise. We heard every door that closed down the hallway, every person that walked by, we could hear word for word the neighbour's TV and every step the person above our room took. It did not make for a good nights sleep. We were kept awake by the noise (and the noise the other guests were making was not unreasonable) and awoken very early when the guests above us got up. Apparently when they built this hotel, they did not consider the noise factor and must have built it as cheaply as possible.

The mineral spa has done a good job in cleaning up the pool. We recently visited the Moose Jaw Temple Gardens Mineral Spa and in terms of water quality, the Manitou water is a much darker golden colour, however Manitou also seems to have a higher mineral count as floating was so much easier (even in the deep pool). Only disappointment with the pool was trying to find the 'hot' pool. They post the pool temperatures at the front desk of the pool, however when we questioned the staff as to where the 'hot' pool was, we were told the temperatures were exagerated and the pool wasn't as hot as they claim. So in terms of heat and atmosphere, Moose Jaw wins hands down. In terms of float ability, Manitou comes out ahead.

Overall, we had planned on a quiet relaxing and restful stay, but ended up with a noisy night, abrupt awakening in the morning and a feeling of tired crankiness when we left. We won't be staying here again.

We were there in July.
Family room is very expensive.
Rules in the pool are terribly enforced, if you have "not appropriate swimsuit" they will kick you out from the pool in front of all people.
The quality of the water is not the same as it was three years ago. salt concentration is reduced every year.

Room Tip: We were there in July. Family room is very expensive. Take the room close to elevator.

Thank you for your comments, but in this case I feel I need to explain a few things.
The standards for swimming pools throughout the world are that proper bathing suits must be worn, and we are no different. We ALWAYS explain politely to our patrons that they can purchase a proper one in our gift store if necessary, and re enter the pool.
You are correct in saying the quality of the water has changed, as we are pleased to say it is now very clear (and still has a VERY high mineral content - higher than ANY other pool in North America). The increased clarity is due to the carbon filters we installed in our circulation system, and we have verified with much testing that it takes out the color and turbidity of our pool water, but not the minerals.
The price for 2 adults and up to 4 children in the family room is $159.95 plus tax. This price includes two separate rooms for sleeping, 3 beds, a kitchenette with fridge, complimentary robes to wear to the pool, complimentary hot breakfast for adults, and of course unlimited swimming at the mineral spa for the whole family.

Trip from Edmonton AB - 7 hours drive. Weather in July is nice but water in the lake still to cold to enjoy. My 7 year old son did not play in the water at all. Many older people around. Dances every weekend and tuesdays( older crowd as well). We would definatelly stop there again if passing by, but make it as vacation destination for whole family- not our style. $2000 over 4 nights - too costly. For $3000 - we would spend week in Mexico.

We stayed as a family of two adults and three kids in the end of June, 2012.

Pros:
1. Recently renovated. If you have allergies-the most western wing is the newest building with new air conditioner besides other new things (carpets, windows, bath etc)
2. Close to the lake
3. There is super new family room for 170Cad (tax incl)
4. Water is salty. Big time. One of the unique places in Canada and may be in the World. Must see at least once.

Cons/ Suggestions:
1. Carpets, carpets , carpets. I do not understand why in Northern part of N. America Hotels prefer carpets, especially in areas with increased humidity, providing a nice shelter for dust mites. Why not to have 1-2 rooms with laminated/ tile floors?
2. There is no a single place to eat healthy breakfast. No yogurts, no fresh apples etc etc. Plastic food all around. Bring your own if you'd like to survive.
3. No boats on the lake that you may rent
4. A bit outdated pool. I understand they will fix be fixing it in November, 2012
5. A parking lot just at the lake shore... a pin in the eye for an aesthetic person
6. Since most of the clientele is geriatric, I would definitely have one nurse practitioner and at best a geriatric physician, occupational therapist etc/ This will add more value to the salty water.

Conclusion: Overall a good value for the price. Will return. Will recommend, especially if the management will continue to work hard on improvements.

Room Tip: If you have allergies try the most western wing with new air conditioners, new carpets, new bathroo...
