Stayed here for one night recently in the unidome.. What a fabulous experience. From pulling up at the site the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, even chopping us some kindling to get our fire pit going.. Although the site was full you would hardly know it as everything was spaced so as to give you privacy. The communal showers and kitchen area were spotless. we were 2 female friends enjoying a break so lit a fire, cracked open the wine and spent the night under the stars! It was so tranquil you couldn't fail to feel relaxed... Can't recommend it highly enough and will definitely return.

We spent 2 days in a hobbit hut in a group of 4 adults. The huts are very basic and just about fit us all in to sleep! It's rather expensive for what you get at £80 a night and I wouldn't call it 'glamping' but we had fun! The shared bathrooms and kitchen were clean and a short walk away. Each hut/yurt/tent had its own space around it so it felt quite secluded.
It would be good if the owners could open the gates to allow cars right up to the huts though. We had to make 2 trips with wheelbarrows to take our stuff down to the accommodation, despite there being a perfectly good road that the owners use quite regularly to get around. I understand the noise issue but I think 2 trips per group to pack/unpack would be acceptable to fellow campers!
Overall a fun experience and I'd like to return to try one of the more 'glam' options next time!

Thank you for your recent review we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and sorry that you felt the Hobbit Pods were basic and small.

Our website clearly states that the 'Hobbit' Pods (small by nature, small by name!) are an upgrade from a tent therefore they are the most basic type of Glamping accommodation we have in the mix but still cosy and warm. For a more luxurious Glamping experience we do offer other options such as the Unidomes, Safari Tents and Bell Tents.

Our Hobbit Pods are extremely popular for Families and groups alike with low prices of £77.00 per night which is high season price between 4 people (£19.25ppn) is almost as cheap as some Camp Sites to pitch your own tent especially when they add charges for cars, awnings etc also.

I do hope you will return to experience one of our more luxurious options and enjoy another fun weekend but of a little more luxury to suit.

Kind Regards,

Kerry :-)

I have stayed here twice now and both times really enjoyed it! Good value for money. My boyf and I stayed in the Romeo and Juliet pod back in Oct. Lovely little pod, with cute little touches. The last time was with another couple. Really lovely location, fab in Summer to have a BBQ and chill out. The beds were ok but what you would really expect when glamping. Would really like to stay in the tipis next time and also try out some of the activities. Also would recommend a fab pub nearby called Fox and Hound. Amazing food!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in the woodland hide unidome.
A unique experience and well worth the money.

The staff were really accommodating and nothing was too big a problem!
The grounds are gorgeous and the toilets/showers and kitchen block are maintained to a really good standard. We have already recommended Camp Katur to many of our friends and hope to get back and visit again soon!

Thanks again!

Room Tip: Highly recommend the Woodland hide unidome. Its in a secluded spot in the forest and was just lovely...

We stayed in the Safari tent during half term and had a fantastic time. The tent, setting etc are idyllic and there was a lot of space between the various accommodations which was nice. But.......a few things do need addressing so here goes. The beds are AWFUL........very thin mattresses which actually poke into you, and felt a bit damp. It rained during our entire stay so I can imagine that things do get a little damp. I would recommend getting some quality mattresses and possible some sort of breathable plastic covers to protect from damp? Also the frying pans were very cheap, small and dirty. You need quality items due to the extent they are being used. I know the tents rely on people cleaning everything properly but that cannot always be guaranteed so it would be a good idea to check everything after the previous guests have left. I also think the site would benefit from a drying room and possibly laundry facilities? On the plus side the staff are lovely and friendly. We had an issue with our hot water and solar lights but Andy sorted it out and was very good. The Eco spa was fantastic (though a tad expensive) and we thoroughly enjoyed it!!! We all had a wonderful time and I feel with a few tweaks here and there Camp Katur will be perfect!!

Thank you for your review and honest feedback, We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay despite poor weather conditions.

As for improvements we are always proactive with any negatives points that need attending to and wanted to inform you that both Safari Tents now have new mattress toppers which will hopefully improve comfort levels and new mattress protectors to protect from any damp spells during poor weather periods. The pans have also been replaced with new ones, our housekeeping team clean all accommodation after each departure and will ensure all pans and kitchen wares are checked and replaced with new ones which we keep stock of if unsuitable.

We hope to have you Glamp with us again in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Kerry :)

Just returned from a break in a hobbit pod.

The site is in the grounds of a big old house and consists of hundreds of acres of fields/woodland.
The main building/reception serves food/drinks and acts as a centre point for all the groups who book activities like quad biking etc etc.

Then you drive from reception down a track to the glamping area where the hobbit pods are located in the wooden area and the teepees/safari tents are located in the field opposite, all very spaced out so no privacy or noise issues as there were a few hen and stag parties but the site has strict noise/nuisance policy that fines people if any calls outs or complaints are made which is handy.

Up from the hobbit pods the communal showers x 2 and 2 toilets all seemed very clean and fresh and next to these is a communal area that has sink, water, kettles, gas hobs, table chairs etc for cooking food etc

The hobbit pods are simply camping so you need to be prepared to make it enjoyable with charcoal etc plus camping stoves, lots of food plus some music.

The pods contain a bunk bed and day bed type thing (I think more of the pods should have the option of a double bed for couples), plus an old well used wobbly BBQ, well used fire basket plus bench and table outside.

I’m new to camping so I was surprised the pods didn’t have any locks if you head out for the day so all your things are safe, I know a tent would have the same issue but I just think a lock of some sort would be handy.

The staff are very friendly, especially the two people who looked after our area plus Kerry who prepares the pods.

A nice place and great if you like camping, it’s not for us, well for 1 night max but I would consider staying again but in accommodation that has more facilities (ie a toilet).

But if you want an experience or you are in to camping then I can’t see why you wouldn’t enjoy your stay.

Tip:
Use the showers in the main building if you can be bothered to walk as they are more powerful and have more light.
Take your own sponge and tea towel
Take candles/torch

Suggestions:
More pods with double beds would be helpful for couples staying.
Replace the wobbly old BBQ’s.

Quick review - expensive for what it is and customer service very lacking - the location is as you would expect lovely and the tents pretty neat.

make sure you check stuff is open as we found pretty much all activities were closed as only appeared to open in school hols which was a big let down.
