Just returned from a break in a hobbit pod.
The site is in the grounds of a big old house and consists of hundreds of acres of fields/woodland.
The main building/reception serves food/drinks and acts as a centre point for all the groups who book activities like quad biking etc etc.
Then you drive from reception down a track to the glamping area where the hobbit pods are located in the wooden area and the teepees/safari tents are located in the field opposite, all very spaced out so no privacy or noise issues as there were a few hen and stag parties but the site has strict noise/nuisance policy that fines people if any calls outs or complaints are made which is handy.
Up from the hobbit pods the communal showers x 2 and 2 toilets all seemed very clean and fresh and next to these is a communal area that has sink, water, kettles, gas hobs, table chairs etc for cooking food etc
The hobbit pods are simply camping so you need to be prepared to make it enjoyable with charcoal etc plus camping stoves, lots of food plus some music.
The pods contain a bunk bed and day bed type thing (I think more of the pods should have the option of a double bed for couples), plus an old well used wobbly BBQ, well used fire basket plus bench and table outside.
I’m new to camping so I was surprised the pods didn’t have any locks if you head out for the day so all your things are safe, I know a tent would have the same issue but I just think a lock of some sort would be handy.
The staff are very friendly, especially the two people who looked after our area plus Kerry who prepares the pods.
A nice place and great if you like camping, it’s not for us, well for 1 night max but I would consider staying again but in accommodation that has more facilities (ie a toilet).
But if you want an experience or you are in to camping then I can’t see why you wouldn’t enjoy your stay.
Use the showers in the main building if you can be bothered to walk as they are more powerful and have more light.
Take your own sponge and tea towel
More pods with double beds would be helpful for couples staying.
Replace the wobbly old BBQ’s.
