We have just enjoyed a delightful lunch at Lerida Estate Cafe. We were attracted by the excellent wines of the Canberra region so booked in for lunch early so we could linger to enjoy food and wine and still drive safely! We started with a wine tasting and the lovely (practical) people there were very comfortable with us splitting the tasting into two parts - part one bubbles and whites before our entree and part two with reds after.
The wine staff combined well to provide a great intro to Lerida wines. The sparking brut rose was brilliant and the Pinot Grigio and Amara wines absolutely delightful. We loved chatting over the reds and enjoyed the observations of the staff about them. We also got a lovely surprise at how delicious the Pinot Grigio botrytis was - definitely worth tasting. Despite our lean towards reds we were really taken with the whites and the roses here!
The food was brilliant and we had the rainbow trout and the pie and followed up with a decadent dessert each - pear and panacotta and the donut misu. Coffee was very good and the staff were lovely helpful and friendly.
Definitely worth a trip for. Canberra or a stop along the way in transit! (Only downside was that it was a little bit chilly so were layers.)’
