“Must stop!”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

This is where the locals and the regional truck drivers stop to eat. Not fancy, but extremely friendly and awesome home-cooked food. We ate lunch, and just hit the buffet. It's not a large selection, but THE PLACE for meat and potato fare. Yes, it had veggies, but who cares? This is western Kansas. We enjoyed our visit tremendously.

“ok place”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

The restaurant was not fancy but the food was good. The buffet/salad bar had a good selection. The staff had to be reminded to replemish some of the items that had run out on the buffet, but were friendly and liked to joke around.

“Good for breakfast”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

Good breakfast at a good price. Nice staff. Lunch and dinner buffet looked better than the dinner I ordered off the menu.

“Keep Driving”
Reviewed August 22, 2012 via mobile

Food was marginal at best. Typical Sysco food. Ashed potatoes were not real and the beef looked horrible on the buffet. I would keep driving if it was me...not worth the stop.

“Great fried chicken!”
Reviewed July 24, 2012 via mobile

My family and I had dinner here during an overnight stay in Oakley. Aside from the restaurant attached to the truck stop across the street from the Sleep Inn, there was very little in the way of dining options, so we decided to venture over to the nest highway exit and found Colonial Steak House. The decor is basic, clean, no frills. There is a salad bar/buffet with hot and cold options including soup, roast beef, mashed potatoes, cooked veggies (likely from a can or frozen) and some limited cold offerings (mixed greens, pickled cucumbers, carrots, cauliflower, etc.). Overall, a mediocre salad bar. Generally, I would give a place like this two to three stars, but I have to say the fried chicken, which I ordered as part of the $7.50 chicken and salad bar entree, was delicious. Tasty coating, not too heavy, perfectly fried. My husband had the $10.00 flat iron steak. He said it was one of the best steak's he had ever had. On top of that, the service was always with a smile, and the local patrons were very, very nice. If you find yourself in Oakley, definitely stop at the Colonial Steak House.
