We needed a get away weekend and this was perfect. We didn't spend too much money and had a great romantic weekend. The hotel it self was fairly smokey from the casino, but the room was very clean. The staff was great and made sure our every need was tended to. The casino floor was full of action on Saturday night and we ended up playing half the night on Prairie Cash the casino gives you for signing up for their casino rewards program. We will be going back for show vacations as often as we can.

The negative things:
1. Poor hotel service: We made reservations at this hotel and we were hoping for a nice fun vacation... When we got there, after checking in and going to our room, we noticed that they didn't give us the right room. (Our reservations were for a non-smoking room with a tub.) So, we hauled all our luggage back down to the front desk to find out that the hotel does not guarantee types of rooms when reserving (although when making the reservations on the phone I was not told this). They only guarantee that there is a room available for you. The hotel staff (at front desk) were not very accommodating. They told us they would send up an ozone machine to help clear out the smoke smell in the room because they did not have a non-smoking room available. We never received that ozone machine during our 3-day stay.

2. The walls are thin. There was a birthday party on one side of us, and a large family with children on the other side of us. We could hear everything. We could hear anything going on in the hallway as well.

3. Poor slot machine payouts: I understand that when gambling with slot machines, the chances of winning are not good, but in this casino the chances are really, really bad. During the three days we both spent in the casino, we never saw anyone hit anything good (over $150). When people are betting $1-5 dollars a spin, there really should be better payouts.

4. No high speed access is available in the hotel rooms... In order to connect to the internet, a guest must go to designated hot-spot areas within the hotel.

5. Food is expensive.

6. Cable channels are limited. No premium channels available, although you can purchase to view Showtime movies and/or series ($6.95 per movie or episode).

The positive things:

1. Although the food is expensive, it is very good.
2. The hotel rooms are nice and clean (but do smell like smoke).
3. The casino has a wide variety of slot machine games available.
4. The casino staff is very friendly and courteous.

Recommendation: Avoid this casino altogether and go to KC or Oklahoma...

Upon arrival, the Val/Bell staff started it off - Treated us like we were at the Ritz, but a bit more down home - Wonderful

My Lady love 'd the decor in the lobby and in the room (I liked the large tub, frig in every room and entertainment/drawers and stuff in a wall unit) Room was larger than most with sitting area and a sep bar/coffee area (good use of hall space) - no desk, at first I thought "OH no" but then realize "I am on vacation (even if only for a few days) and I am going to enjoy - We did

The Hot tubs in the courtyard: Wow! Beautiful, open 24/7 and the weather even cooperated (You could take advantage in Feb. even if the weather had not been so nice) - We took our morning coffee in the courtyard and used the waterfall hot tub in the middle of the day (no kids to compete with - not a family friendly place, nothing for the little ones to do but we (we don't quite qualify for AARP, ok, I just do she doesn't "quite" I will get hit when she reads this) We would take nieces/nephews and upcoming grand kids elsewhere
They did what they could with space available for buffet (while remodeling) again the staff went out of there way to try to accommodate - Oh yes Security, the little things, opening the doors and greeting you, being there without being in you face - very pleasant

Romantic get away - One Giant YES

If you like inhaling smoke in a non-smoking room, this is the hotel for you. The casino floor was so crowded and smokey and dirty it felt like we had smoked a pack of cigarettes and we are not smokers. The dining room was being remodeled so they seated diners in a banquet room with chairs and very small tables a foot apart from other diners. The buffet food was fair but the atmosphere was horrendous. We don't enjoy dining right on top of strangers - literally, just one foot apart. The wait staff could barely get around to get drinks to the tables. They were constantly apologizing for bumping into people.
The hotel room's walls are paper thin. Our neighbor coughed all night and then his wife talked on the phone in the bathroom and we could hear every word. In the a.m., we found out our shower didn't work - only a hot scalding trickle came out of the shower head. I went down to the front desk in the morning to check out and another couple walked up behind me. They checked them out before me! The desk clerk claimed she couldn't see me. Excuse me? I asked her if I was invisible. She didn't reply. When I told her about the problems with the room, she asked if I would like housekeeping to call me. I told her don't bother, we'll never be back. She never once apologized. We had visited this casino many times when it was Harrah's but now that it's under new management, we will never return. Stay away!

We just returned from a quick weekend getaway. One stop was the Prairie Band Casino & Resort in Mayetta, KS.. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and found our room to be very comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the room very clean. The bathroom was huge and the shower magnificent. We requested a non-smoking room and the only available was a handicapped - which we accepted only on the condition that no one needing it was turned away. We were assured they had another, and thanked us for caring.
The casino had a nightly special running and with a players card, we were given a huge tub of popcorn and entered into their nightly drawings. Unfortunately, we didn't win the drawings but had a great time playing roulette. The people were all very friendly. The only drawback was they had two roulette tables but they shared one wheel. This was cause for lots of waiting, since one table had lots of high rollers playing. The pit boss finally upped the limit on the busy table and so the game moved at a better pace after that.
The casino was full but not crowded, like some. You could easily find room to play whatever you chose to play. A little smokey but again, not as bad as some.
We would recommend the Prairie Band Casino & Resort to anyone who wants a relaxing weekend out.

I frequent Prairie Band Casino near Mayetta, KS quite often and find it a wonderful atmosphere-- a place I enjoy spending my spare time. We have stayed over in the Hotel and the rooms were well above average. We have attended several conferences at this Casino and we will doing it again. Their Buffet is always good and the Resturant is wonderful.
