“Nice place to stay if you are a smoker”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

The hotel was generally nice. The rooms have been redone, and the bed and bathrooms are very nice. The main problem is that the smoke from the casino has permeated everything. Even clothes that were only in the hotel room reeked of smoke. I can't say whether they have non-smoking rooms or not. We requested one, but still came away smelling of smoke and having to wash everything we took with us.

We live in Kansas City so Topeka is a ninety minute drive for us. We met some other couples at the Firekeeper Golf Course, played 18 holes, and then stayed at the hotel afterwards. Golf course was very nice and people there are very helpful and friendly--many thanked us for coming when we told them we were from KC. Cart attendants went over the course with us and showed us a card that explains the course and yardage to each green from the tee. Hotel has a wonderful courtyard with two hot tubs, a fire pit and tables and chairs. Rooms were very clean, king sized bed, large bathroom, with refrigerator and coffee pot. We ate at the steakhouse where you can get a variety of foods-- hamburgers, fish, ribs or steak. If this is your first stay--go to the casino check in at the back of the casino and they will give you a $25 voucher to gamble. To initiate the voucher, you have to put some of your own money in--you don't have to match the $25--we put in $6 one time and $5 the next. We ate the Sunday brunch--$12.99 for a large variety of breakfast and lunch items. It's a nice get away to do with with friends. Hotel comabo/golf with cart was $219 for the couple.

Very nice staff! We stayed in the garden tower. Our room had a king size bed, huge bathtub/shower. Room was great and bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. There were 2 hot tubs outdoors. The casino was alot of fun. Many games to choose from. There are 3 restaurants, we liked the buffet the best. If you're a golfer, we golfed the Firekeeper golf course which was across the road from hotel. This was a great course and the staff very friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel as well as the golf course.

this casino has no morals I know they are trying to pay for the golf course and take care of the tribe but what is really going here is just sad. I read alot of the comments on here and for those who won on your first visit its set up that way. I watch as they open up the computer locks that show every machine and who is playing . it dont matter if you put your card in or not the points are not worth it and you loose them all after the following year. I use to get comps in the mail all the time when it was harrahs and the rooms had so much more to offer. before you had so much like.

microwaves, cable with HBO ,SHOWTIME, and more.a 24/7 snack shack that offered a full meal for under $25 bucks i mean come on the prices are just crazy and the snack machines WTF all the prices are double or triple. and if you go on the floor you never hear anyone yelling about hittitng a really big jackpot $1,000 maybe but hell the guy and gal to your left or right lost that an hour ago and when has anyone and pls if you have let me know .when has anyone since the harrahs pull out seen anyone hit a progressive jackpot I will tell you when NEVER no one ever will just look around the next time you go and watch the tribe members walking around in suits going to the computers in those corners and tell me what you see . DAMN SHAME!!!!!!!

Room Tip: fitness center wow they sure dont tell you about that and with that big hotel looks like they would...

My daughter qualified for the State Swim Meet in Topeka and I did not make room reservations soon enough for wife and I to be in the same Hotel as her and the team so I thought it would be nice to try Praire Band Casino & Resort. I secured a room at the last minute and was very pleased. The room was nice and the bed comfortable. It was on the first floor and opened on to the courtyard with a small patio with a couple of chairs. The hallway was being remodled but fortunately my wife did not make me sleep in the Hallway. We had dinner at the Three Fire restaurant which was very good and a lot cheaper than some of the Las Vegas restaurants we've dined at. I think $80.00 for a couple of good steaks, salads, bread and three drinks. The Staff was friendly and the Casino was kind to us. The Casino was Ok...smoke factor not to bad but there again it's a Casino. I would stay there again and ask for the remodeled rooms. Hope this helps.

The beds are very comfortable. The rooms were very clean. The buffet was awesome! the wait staff at the buffet were the best. The casino was very busy for a Sunday. When will they offer more services? Spa? The internet was awful. There were several golfers out & about on the course. I heard from them that the course is very good.

We booked on line and our receipt showed $0 for a deposit. When we got there, we were informed that there is a $100 deposit. The gentleman behind the counter was not to blame but we let him know that we felt this was misrepresentation and false advertising. This was not budgeted into our vacation.

Then we got to the room and the toilet howled - yes - howled. We flushed and it seemed to take care of it - until the middle of the night when it started howling again... all night long... and others down the hall were doing the same. Not a restful or fun vacation.

The people were nice and the room was clean - but .....
