The lake is average. The true gem is the hiking trails. Gorgeous sandstone of vivid reds, bright orange and brilliant yellows. Caves, bluffs, wildlife and wildflowers. Be super vigilant for the poison ivy. It is right along the trails. I don't know if I would be brave enough to do this trail in full growth. Winter or early spring are the times for less poison ivy.

We spent a weekend here and despite the high water, were able to put together a couple of decent hikes. The cabin was clean and fairly basic. It had a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, heat and A/C, a full bed, twin Murphy bed, and two futons. Lodgers must bring their own towels, bedding, pillows, shampoo, soap, and towels.

A great place for the family and friends, great fishing , hiking, boating and camp fire stories. We met there for the weekend to enjoy firework display, jet ski, camp site games, music, cooking out with four family's in all.

We tent camped here for Labor Day weekend. Campground spaces are super close with minimal privacy. We never once saw anyone who worked the park, and many of the other campers violated quiet hours (annoying but not the end of the world). The campground included pit toilets with no locks OR soap. Even the shower house with running water didn’t have soap in the bathroom. Isn’t that a health-code violation? Word to the wise- bring your own hand soap if you are tent camping at the grounds.

Anyways, we did hike some of the trails which were minimally maintained but fair. We enjoyed the views and bluffs throughout the hike. Above all, we’ve been to far better parks but the unique prairie trails with the hills and bluffs were appreciated.

This was a nice park. It seems big and spread out. The lake was pretty, and some were swimming in late May. We saw an eagle soaring overhead, always nice to see in the wild. There were some campers and a few people having a picnic. Looks like a good park for hiking. I'd visit again if back in the area.
