Owner description: Small World is the gallery of National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson, also a keynote speaker, writer and social media commenter. It also is the custom workshop and retail showcase for IBISwoman Jewelry, designed with ancient, antique and contemporary materials from around the world. Jim Richardson has more than 30 magazine stories to his credit, with more on the way. For the National Geographic Society and clients worldwide, he speaks on issues such as feeding the world and lessons from rural places. He was named photographer of the year by his National Geographic photography colleagues in 2014. Jim Richardson also is known for his documentary photography, His work has been covered by ABC News Nightline and twice by CBS News Sunday Morning. He is on the road about half of the average year. His working office is in the gallery and he chats with gallery visitors whenever he can. IBISwoman Jewelry was founded in 2002 by Kathy Richardson, Jim's spouse. Now with Briana Zimmerling as co-designer, Kathy collects jewelry design materials that give each pair of earrings, bracelet or necklace a story that spans eras, technologies and traditions. The massive IBISwoman collection of metals, organics, stones and glass is the groundwork for all the designs seen on the gallery floor. It is open for browsing and tours, as well as work bench consultations on custom designs.

Really pretty jewelry, beautiful photography prints, and neat souvenirs like linoleum prints and handmade papers. I have to buy something every time that I go in. VERY helpful staff, who are not afraid to spend time helping you choose, or giving you suggestions on local restaurants and attractions.

This special gallery could fit in NYC, Chicago or San Francisco, yet this gem is in the middle of Kansas, Lindsborg or Little Sweden USA. Jim Richardson's photos and Kathy's Jewelry are superb, plus they feature visiting artists. I design an article of clothing and Kathy designs pieces to match. Jim's framed works enhance any decor and take you to another small world.

Small World Gallery is that special stop that we all look for when visiting a small town Main Street. An enthusiastic and sincere greeting, the freedom to browse but staff on the ready to supply insight or customize a piece of jewelry. This wonderful husband-wife team of National Geographic photographer and Ibis Woman jewelry designer complement each other in life and work, if you are priveledged enough to catch both of them in the Gallery at the same time. Jim and Kathy Richardson offer their guests a unique perspective with commentary on Jim's world travel, and Kathy's knowledge of all-things beads. Who knew there was so much to know about beads! And who doesn't want to brush shoulders with a world-class photographer? Cannot recommend this stop enough. Allow at least 90 minutes, and I dare you to walk out empty-handed! (I have supplied the web address, but you'll get a great feel for SWG on Facebook.

Don't miss seeing the work of National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson. When he is not on assignment, traveling the globe for the magazine, he works in his own small-town gallery called Small World. It's almost impossible to believe you can find a pro like this in a small Kansas town. Small World shows Richardson's his work and sells limited edition prints plus greeting cards from a huge selection. His wife also designs jewelry. I got a pair of earrings that I love. So much to choose from!
