We had the privledge of attending a 5 course wine dinner hosted by Aaron Sanchez.
This IS not any typical Mexican restaurant food. It was unique, fantantize and amazing.
The food was exceptional as is Aaron, he is an great chef and has a great personality.
Not crazy about the tatoos...however.
If you like fast food mexican please stay away , if seeikng a great mexican food experience, showing the variety and uniqueness of Mexican spices and flavors this is your restaurant.
If you tried it a year ago they had some issues, please try again you will not be disappointed.
Thank you Aaron, Michael and your staff

I had dinner at Mestizo's in Leawood Kansas on November 2, 2012. Although it was a chilly evening, we sat outdoors upstairs which is comfortable thanks to heating units. The food was creative and expertly prepared. Service attentive without hovering. I had the sauteed shrimp, which was done to perfection. Excellent margarita too! Downstairs can be quite noisy, but upstairs we were able to have a good conversation without shouting at each other. Definitely recommend.

Wide variety, we shared everything and there wasn't a loser on the table. The staff is friendly and knew the menu to the "T". Moved quickly to the top of our favorites list!

We love Aaron Sanchez and thought his touch on this restaurant would ensure it was a winner. What a disappointment! Granted, our expectations on arrival were very high...the menu is very creative, and when you read it you can barely wait to get your food. But then the food comes, and it just simply lacks flavor - no other easy way to put it. A sprinkling of kosher salt would have done wonders to draw out the flavors - especially for the fish tacos (which were the "special" yet not special at all). The salsa has a nice flavor but was very sweet (no spice at all), and the homemade chips and corn tortillas were very greasy. The house margarita was terrific, as was the queso with chorizo - I guess we should've stopped at that (rather than spending $50 for pretty mediocre tasting food for 2!) Aaron, please stop in and train the cook team!

Fantastic bar and restaurant menu. Tapas menu is delightful with everything from nachos to tongue tacos! Lobster cerviche is wonderful as is the braised pork belly entree. Excellent bar and wine choices
