I live in town and spent the night for my birthday. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The bar accomodated my party guests. Great location for restaurants and lounges. A trendy hotel in a trendy location.

Nice spot with LOTS around within walking distance. Perfect if you are staying to be near the Sprint Corp Campus. The sushi place downstairs has a great happy hour and yummy food. The rooms are quaint and cool. Fridge included, a microwave would have been nice too. The pool was very clean and relaxing. The walls were a tad bit thin but not awful.

I had no complaints at all- great room, bed and view. Nice view and perfectly quiet. I recommend trying to get a room on the 6th floor facing the ice rink for the best view. Well priced and better amenities than many higher priced hotels . Would absolutely recommend to anyone

Aloft is a very modern hotel with moderate sized rooms, comfortable beds, mediocre water pressure. In general a great place to stay...

Irons / ironing boards are not in the rooms and took over 30 minutes to appear when ordered.

One lift was out for the entire 2 days of my stay which made getting places slow and tiresome when on a hurried business trip.

Aloft seems to be trying just a little too hard to break the mould and be modern. For a first timer at an Aloft I found breakfast confusing and falling far short of expectations. I walked up to an area in the lobby around which was some fairly stale bread to put in a toaster and some egg mcmuffin looking "things" wrapped in foil that were allegedly $5. Payment is made at the nearby reception (which was unmanned). I ordered a custom "mcmuffin" (don't know how else to describe them) one wasn't enough. I took another in a rush and found it luke warm.

Then there's no real "breakfast area" to meet with colleagues. There's a table with cocktail chairs around it and a nice lounge but this hotel lacks a true breakfast dining area (and certainly does not serve full American breakfast).

The ground floor offers a sophisticated (again trying a little too hard to be modern and chic) sushi restaurant. Not sure Kansas City is a place I'd seek out sushi. Also I'm not quite sure if this was really part of the hotel. It did not appear to offer breakfast.

A saving grace is that right next door is a Gordon Biersch and a California Pizza Kitchen.

Overall this place seems to be trying just a little too hard to stand out with the young crowd. If Virgin America were a hotel it would be an Aloft. This said Virgin America has grown on me - perhaps Aloft will too. But for my first stay I found the quirky breakfast unsatisfying.

We checked into the hotel for one night for a mini-getaway. The check-in went smoothly but we wondered at the potential noise levels as it was loud in the hallways. The room looked nice at first glance and there was NOT a noise problem in our room. The ceiling did look unfinished, though. We also noted that the placement of lights was odd as the bathroom light would illuminate the entire room.

The biggest problem we had was that the bed was entirely too hard and uncomfortable and was like trying to sleep on a board. We both woke up with incredibly sore backs and necks. The comforter was very heavy and too warm; there were no other blanket options so we were either too hot or too cold all night long while tossing and turning. There were just the two standard pillows on the the bed, also. We could have used more pillows.

Upon checking out we waited for about ten or fifteen minutes while the staff tried to work with another customer on reserving a room for an extended stay of 15 days, but she was not able to find a room for him and he ended up leaving without resolution. Once she was free, checkout was no problem, although she didn't inquire as to the quality of our stay.

We have decided that we ... mid-westerners in our early 40s ... are not the target audience for ALoft. We would have been fine with the ambiance and decor, but the inability to get more than a total of two or three hours of VERY restless sleep was very frustrating.

Room Tip: Choose one away from the lobby with the noise; higher floor would be good.

Hi JandJSeymour,
I am sorry that you were not able to get some zzzz's while you were here. I will certainly take a look at your room and make sure everything was up to par. We aren't your traditional hotel, you noticed the ceilings, they are actually finished, they are concrete, which can look like unfinished drywall. We are geared for the youthful minded, so age is a state of mind at Aloft. We hope you will choose us the next time you are in town.

Happy Holidays,

I have stayed at this hotel several times for business and you can always count on clean rooms and comfy beds. The bliss amenities are a nice touch in the rooms. The food that is available is average, but plent of restaurants are super close and in walking distance.

Room Tip: Complimentary coffee is served in the morning. Dean and Deluca is about a half mile away.

You want two things when you are traveling on business - a quiet room and good food options close by. This hotel provides both. The rooms are updated and modern, while still providing good comfort. I appreciated the layout - the bathroom is behind the bedroom, so you don't get light spill from that room. I really loved that the alarm clock was an old-fashioned, easy to set kind. The newer ones often are just too hard to figure out.

Restaurants abound a few steps from the hotel and the hotel itself provides a range of to-go items. One caveat - the printer for boarding passes uses paper reminiscent of a fax machine and it can be a pain when you check in - they have trouble reading it at the gate

Room Tip: Given the good quality shades, it probably doesn't matter. But since there are restaurants on on...

Hi Denise K,
Thank you for your review, it looks like you had a great stay with us. I am happy that we can provide you with what you need while out on business. I appreciate your feedback on the boarding passes. We are actually switching over to a new kiosk model in 2013 that should make everthing read better.

Cheers,
