“Excellent food made for you fresh.”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Price is higher than you may expect for the atmosphere but inline with sit down restaurants. Freshly made while you wait so you can have whatever heat and spice you like. Friendly family owned place. Enjoy authentic cuisine!

“worth the short wait”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

The special thai dishes listed on the wall are all delicious, all of the flavors here are sumptuous and ingredients fresh. The owner/chef gets backlogged when there is a small rush, be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes at peak times. Worth it! This restaurant is very informal but clean, about 10 booths. I usually call ahead and order it to go. If you like Thai food, you will not be disappointed. A Lawrence gem.

“Thai served in a no nonsense way”
Reviewed March 17, 2012 via mobile

Located in a former Subway Sandwich Shop on the west side of Lawrence, Thai Siam offers the best Thai food in town. While the decor is somewhat eclectic and chaotic, the food reflects a no-sense approach to the cuisine. There is an open kitchen where you can see the owners cook an extensive menú of delectable Thai food. You order at the counter and wait for someone to bring your food. The booths offer a tight space for eating a great meal prepared on the spot. The menu selection includes vegetarian options and tasty appetizers. When we went, we ordered spring rolls, freshly made with a delightful peanut butter dipping sauce. One dish was a hardy Green Curry with pork. Great dish with sufficient fire and heat to delight the senses. My partner ordered Pad See Euw with shrimp, excellently prepared and fresh. The portions were plentiful with very reasonable prices. What the location lacks in terms of atmosphere and decoration is compensated by the superb food and the fresh ingredients used. Seek this place out and enjoy the taste of Thai food.

“Excellent food, real Thai chef”
Reviewed July 10, 2011

This is an informal open kitchen dine-in, but the food is excellent. It is hard to find a Thai restaurant run by Thai people these days. But this place is one of the most authentic Thai places I have been to. It is also significantly cheaper than the likes around here. Things we love here are "Fresh spring rolls, Thai ice tea, Shrimp phat thai, kee-maw, Thai red curry". As others mentioned here, food is a bit greasy, but that's the way it should be, isn't it? :)

If you are looking for more of a nicer place to dine in, try "Thai House" at 23rd & Louisiana. Food there is very good and environment is very nice, but I hear that it is run by Koreans.

“Amazing food, but not so much the atmosphere”
Reviewed April 20, 2010

What this place lacks in atmosphere (a former Subway not-quite-converted) sure makes up for it in taste! I ALWAYS get the chicken panang and cucumber salad. Make sure to order extra rice if you get an entree that comes with rice. For the panang (a sweet/spicey curry), they give you about a quart of panang, and maybe two servings of rice - definitely not enough rice. If you can, take this food to go. The seats aren't comfortable, and the seating is very limited.
