The TownePlace Suites in downtown Lawrence was a great place to stay. The staff was helpful and the rooms were very nice. The complimentary breakfast was the only downside, as it seemed a bit lacking, and was somewhat disorganized. Would definitely stay here again though.

Brad I-

Thank you so much for reviewing our hotel. As a newer hotel, we are still working out some of the typical kinks, such as what works best for our breakfast set up. Feedback such as your is integral in the growth of the hotel, and I greatly appreciate it!

We stayed in room 202 on 19-20 August 2016. This room is on the east backside of the hotel overlooking a courtyard. Please note that given the construction on New Hampshire St., presently one's options are, book a room overlooking the street construction to the west, the building construction bordering the north, the wall to the south or the courtyard to the east; we opted for the latter.

Poor choice. About 3am, a group of refugees from Lawrence's rather active downtown bar scene decided to party loudly in TPS' east courtyard. We heard the noise on the second floor clearly and called management to ask them to bring the festivities to a close. The on-duty manager reported she'd had several calls and was in the process of taking care of the problem. How that worked was curious to us because the noisemakers were still going strong at 4am. When we called reception a second time and suggested the police might be necessary, the party ended. What boggles the guest's mind is that hotel management has a firm policy closing the pool and hottub at 11am, but appears clueless to the detrimental effects of leaving the courtyard open all night. In the morning we relayed this suggestion to hotel management and they promised to consider a policy change. Future guests beware.

This is an excellent property physically, extremely well-located, relatively new and ordinarily very comfortable. Our room was no exception, comfortably, not elaborately furnished, but containing all the amenities necessary for the highway traveler, including a handy mini-kitchen. Veteran Lawrence visitors know there isn't much to choose from in town, and we've been staying regularly at the TPS. However, TPS hotel management seems to still be working the kinks out. We checked in by phone several hours before arrival and were assigned room 202. However, upon arrival, we were assigned room 307 despite having been assured by phone that check-in would be smooth. Wasted about fifteen minutes while the desk jockeys sorted out that, yes indeed, room 202 had been assigned several hours earlier, but no note left for the current crew. Somebody else's fault.

Maintenance also appears sub-par. The hallways were not very clean and the walls showed the effects of luggage-rack bumper car events. Granted, most guests stay more than one night in this extended-stay hotel, but one should expect the same high degree of cleanliness one encounters in Marriotts everywhere. The toilet seat in our room was loose, but easy to fix. But, why didn't the maid staff notice this when cleaning our room beforehand and notify hotel maintenance to fix this before we arrived? Attention to detail is lacking at this property so far.

We'll continue to book rooms at the TPS when staying in Lawrence simply because the competition is so lousy. But, we'll be looking for more attentive management in the future and are ready to stay elsewhere for a clean, good night's rest in Lawrence.

Room tip: Rooms on the north and west sides will encounter construction noise in 2016.

Wcpitcher-

Please allow me to apologize for the poor experience that you had while staying with us at the TownePlace Suites this past weekend. You are absolutely right, we are definitely still working out the kinks, but please understand that this was the first time my Night Auditor has had to deal with a situation such as this. As a new hotel, we are finding that there is a first time for everything, and unfortunately, you had to deal with one of our first time experiences. Moving forward, we have immediately put processes and procedures in place to deter such activity from going on during quiet hours of the hotel. I hope that you chose to stay with us again, so we can prove to you that we are moving forward every single day. Thanks-

In town for the Hardwood Classic and were fortunate to get the 2 room suites. Big kitchen area. Both bedrooms have queens. Pull out sofa bed made huge difference. Great rates and underground secure parking. Will definately book reservations for next tournaments.

My wife and I stayed for three days while in town for a wedding. The staff couldn't be friendlier. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out and have plenty of room and storage. Decent fitness center and pool, and extra convenient for walking around Lawrence's charming downtown. I'd stay there again in a second.

Well, they changed the rate in the middle of the transaction. "Customer care" who I called several times over several weeks keep saying they will correct the charge. It never gets done, never happens. Keep making your customers happy and your day will be easier.
Also we received a call from another person at the hotel who should not have had our number, leaving me to wonder if they gave our room number out. Did not feel secure after that btw.
