“Good flavor for a high price.”
Review of Cox Brothers BBQ

Cox Brothers BBQ
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: $5 - $39
Cuisines: Barbecue
Description: This location is temporarily CLOSED while we take some time to perfect a NEW style of BBQ. Catering services will, however, continue to be available throughout the Flint Hills during this time! When we decided to open a BBQ joint years ago, we couldn’t decide which kind of ‘Q’ we loved the most… so we just decided to offer it all. Now, we’re working on a one-of-a-kind "Cox Bros. style BBQ" that will be unique to our region, but we feel like we can only do this effectively at one location first. So we’re starting in Manhattan, KS. Then we’ll bring it over to Junction City after it’s been perfected. We look forward to being back up and running in Junction City sooner or later.

Being from Texas and in town for my son returning from Afghanistan..we were looking for some BBQ to take out to the lodge we are staying out. I only wanted meat because we had our own sides at the lodge. So staff was friendly and place is clean and decorated nice. The manager let me try some of the brisket and sausage. I asked for 1 pound of each. Total cost was $29.00. I pay far less in Texas at our fav local spot. It was good...just cost a lot.

Based on other reviews we thought we would find this restrurant to be a good choice. Our experience was that the meat was very fatty, tasteless without adding your selected sauce, and some bites were hard because it was the meat skin. We had pork sandwitch, cole slaw (watery) and french fries.

We had about 20 people with us and we were all starving. The ordering process is easy, it is relatively inexpensive for what you get, and it was delicious. We really enjoyed our experience.

Wife and I ate here on business trip at noon, did not know what to expect, and I am very picky about BBQ. Got the pulled pork and it was great. The 'Carolina' sauce was correct, vinegar based and tasty. Portion size was average at best, onion rings were very good, and service was ok as the place was full of our troops from Fort Riley. I'd most certainly stop here again.

Stopped here on a road trip xcountry. Food was great BBQ fare. Place was clean and friendly with country roadhouse atmosphere and big screen TV. A real step up from fast food with all the convenience of a quick stop. Sure beats McDonald's!
