Owner description: Travel 650 feet underground into an active salt mine! Experience a cool and soothing subterranean world formed by salt deposits in the Permian Sea long ago. See the raw mine as it was left more than 50 years ago on the Salt Mine Express train ride and catch a guided tour on a tram to the Dark Ride. You won't want to miss a special gallery filled with authentic movie costumes and memorabilia. And don't miss the SALT SAFARI add on tour. A one hour guided adventure tour that goes BEYOND STRATACA. See salt formations not available to the general public until now! Limited capacity -- only 12 visitors at a time depart 3-4 times a day.

This place is very interesting and informative. You go underground 600 feet and see where they store a lot of films, photos, classic film costumes, etc because the temp stays consistent year around. The price is reasonable and we had a lot of fun here

Was amazed so see the abundance of salt, the way it is mined and that so many companies and industries use the mined area for storage. Hollywood costumes from famous movies; computer companies have back-up files, banks have important records stored there for safe keeping since it is fire proof, flood proof and the temperature is steady.

In the middle of almost 'nowhere' is this little known treasure! What a pleasant surprise, from the elevator ride 650' down to the rain tour and Dark Ride, we enjoyed every minute. We purchased the Salt Blast Pass which I would recommend. It was a 2 hour tour and it seemed like 30 minutes. Fascinating, educational and well done; it thoroughly entertained our 18 yr old son who was very skeptical of this little expedition.

This museum is about the old salt mine that was in operation for years. You have the regular admission, and the option to go on 2 additional tours for an extra cost. You are required to wear a safety hat when below ground. The regular museum area has great displays on mining equipment, including the tractors and vehicles. I went on both of the additional tours they offer. You ride on a small "train" to the lesser developed parts of the mine. The driver gives you information over a loudspeaker. Overall, this is an interesting and different place to visit and learn.

This was an unexpected treasure and very well done. I would highly recommend it as you'll never see anything like this anywhere else. Also great for those hot summer days to get cooled off!
